2008 Auction League - Chat

Postby MEAT » Wed Oct 07, 2009 4:11 pm

so, im under the impression we;re voting, miss the post which said we've "officially" moved, otherwise why would i have posted on original thread. it appears im the [u:77f1c29dc7]only [/u:77f1c29dc7]one that missed it within 24 hours of lincicum moving,or the only one interested in the players on the board at that time, but isn't one enough? i never even voted. i;ve only been able to check in at the end of the day pst in early october, and wasn't involved in a.gonzales bru-ha-ha so ignored it. I certainly know NOW to carefully review posts, although I don't antcipate any further changes. To change or alter main thread without being sure everyone is on board is not in the spirit of 12 owners. IMO

This subject has gone on a long time, but I wanted to say one piece. I vener assumed that we could split the threads because of a vote on the chat thread. I asked Gorshar what he thought on our main bidding thread, and he ga ve it his OK. Since he was the league originator and de facto commissioner, that to me made it official. I stated on the main bidding thread that we were moving. And that was after He's meat's last bid. So meat could have known this just by reading the main thread, he did not have to look at the chat thread.
meat, I am sorry if this came out in a way that did not feel good to you, but I think the information was there for you to see.

it was not a perfect situation, and I hope we can move on now.

Besides, Linnecum was WAY overpriced, you should be thankful!

This league is fun, I enjoy it. I am a little stunned by the price of top flight pitchers.
I wonder how this will all shake out at the end. Will the folks with money left end up with super bargains (Markakis for 1.2!) or with lots of money to spend on nothing (Jesse Litsch bid up to 14.5!)

Only time will tell.

It's interesting that you say that, because this one is so different from the ATG one that a few of us are in. In that one the 10 mill. pitchers go for around 3.5 mill. Of course the talent pool is much deeper. It will really be interesting to see how this one ends up.

It won't quite end up Markakis for 1.2, but overall the rosters will look like $200 mil league rosters, so to that end, players will start getting much cheaper and that is to the benefit of those who are saving their money.

are there suppossed to be 5 total players up for bid at a time, or 5 pitchers and 5 position players, or no quota whatsoever?

3 pitchers and 5 hitters. Sorry I slipped over the last 36 hours on watching and updating. I am going a bit daffy with an ATG auction, 2008 auction, 2009 precard and 30 Round keeper draft starting with 2008. I think I find a gem and then realize he was good in 09 and not so good in 08 or vice versa.

Patience

Postby kimkrichbaum2 » Wed Oct 21, 2009 11:33 pm

this league is teaching me patience, but it's tough! It has been easy letting guys I really don't want go by, but Letting folks like Dye and Oswalt, who just cost a little more than I wanted to pay, was difficult. I hope I am not being too patient, and my patience pays off in the end.

I pretty much know what the ruling will be, but just to make it official..
any chance we can sell players or buy them off someone else with remaining funds?
