From my experience, if you skip someone in the 1st round of a draft like this, that manager will lose out on a pretty good player. It then puts that manager at a severe disadvantage right off the bat....which may cause him to simply choose not to participate in the league. And since it took so long to fill this one, I think waiting an extra day for Terry101 makes a lot of sense. Once everyone makes their initial pick and is aware that the draft has begun, then it would be fair to skip their turn once their time is up. But under these circumstances, I think we should probably wait.
BTW, has anyone PM'd Terry or tried to contact him? The last time he checked in was Sunday (on the signup thread) before this league filled, so it's quite possible he's just carrying on with his day, unaware this league has started.

sorry to miss the controversy...i was at business conference all day. please be patient with us/this...i'm no ninersphan when it comes to running a strat league. i would also hate to skip anyone because i too think the 1st round pick is too important to be skipped. we would run the risk of someone dropping out before we even begin.
we did have a slow down getting the league together. so, we should have some wiggle room with regards to the timing of picks. in hindsight, i guess we should have had an unlimited time for the 1st round pick and 1 hour for the rest of the draft.
at this point, i am going to PM everyone to make sure they know the draft is on. but, we should make sure we don't skip anyone.

IMO, you NEVER skip a person in the 1st round of a live draft unless you know that person very well and can count on them to stick around. Like what's been said before, the fastest way to get someone to drop (and screwing everyone else in the process) is to put them at a competitive disadvantage at the very outset.
That being said, once round 1 is over there should be no holdups unless for extreme emergency reasons.

I have a work meeting all day tomorrow, so I will not be available for decisions about the draft, let Chuck make those.
