I just drafted Greg Zaun. Should I enter a dummy pick to replace Quentin? Advise!

How about Jose Vidro to fill the space of Quentin? Did I mention I owe everyone a free beer!

yes,

Do it, MCC is holding Quentin for you, Rant is holding Navarro for MCC, and Gerut is excluded and held for Rant, so yes, take Vidro as a placeholder.

Re: Draft Info

Postby kimkrichbaum2 » Fri Oct 23, 2009 1:12 am

I took Jim Thome (Jacque Jones represents Jim Thome, as noted in our draft instructions). I took him because ESPN (my major stat source) lists him as a 1b, not a DH,
It turns out he has not played any 1b!!
So I would lie to change my pick, I will change it to Jose Bautista. i will not change it on the site, we have all seen how THAT works. I will just excuce him so no one will draft him, and we will know Jacque Jones is really jose Bautista, not Jim Thome.
If anyone has a problem with that. Let me know.

Sorry Litangel, I do have an issue with that. Thome will still get a card and is a valid pick as a PH. There are other similar cards I was considering. I think what you propose goes against the "no drop" rule we agreed upon.

I'll have to agree with QK. It seems to violate the no-drop rule that has been established. If you didn't have authority to administer the draft site and exclude players, this never would have been approved. I was thinking about, and noticed that someone took Hideki Matsui. He won't have any position listed on his card next year either, but will be a good PH.

BTW, don't forget we only get to keep a max of 20 players. So, chances are you wouldn't keep either player for next year anyway, correct?

Yeah, I have to agree with Qk and Chuck. With pitchers batting, pinch-hitters should get plenty of at bats in this league, so a pick like Thome does have value. And he still can get thrown on the field for a little glove work -- "iron" glove mind you, but a glove nonetheless.

Ok, I hear what you guys are saying and will not change pick. I feel a little screwed, but not by you guys, by espn. I know a couple guys have had struggles with the no-DH rule. Slight problem is I excluded Bautista, and the site will not let me unexclude him, so for now, Gary Majewski will represent Bautista.

Shoot, I should have learned, never change anything on this site. Anyone else wanna be draft administrator? :? :D

Chuck - thanks for the reminder on the "20 keepers max" rule - totally forgot about that!

We also need to make sure that everyone comes up with a drafted team that meets SOM requirements. With only 30 picks, someone might end up with only 8 pitchers and not be a valid roster.
