There have been several calls for Bernie to tell us what is really happening under the hood. I myself have made such callouts in the past and likely will in the future. That may not be possible. I am not saying he does not know. I am saying he may not be able to tell us.

I guarantee if you called strato and asked them for details of how the advanced fatigue is implemented in the computer code you would be told this is proprietary trade secret information. I am quite certain that TSN and thus Bernie are governed by non-disclosure agreements that explicitly restrict what he can reveal about the internal logic of the code.

So did he see how the code of the advanced fatigue worked when he was working on bullpen version 2? Probably. But good chance before he ever looked at the source code he had to sign confidentiality agreements that spelled out what he could tell us and what he could not. Though if it is possible to tell us strato says this information cannot be shared that might get some of us off Bernie's back. Of course if there is no such restriction and we can be told more details inquiring minds want to know.

We may have to live with some mystery. Though if possible it might be nice

I don't expect or need the secret equations, but I think we are entitled to instructions that reflect what is happening.

I'd be happy with generalized answers to:

1. When a pitcher fatigues,[list:ab83b29c39][*:ab83b29c39]Do @ become hits?
[*:ab83b29c39]Do less dice rolls land on the pitcher's card?
[*:ab83b29c39]Do more dice rolls land on the pitcher's "bad rolls"?
[*:ab83b29c39]Something else?[/list:u:ab83b29c39]

2. [i:ab83b29c39]How bad[/i:ab83b29c39] is F8? How bad is F0?

Hi everyone...

It's true that I've gotten into trouble before for divulging more than SOM wants revealed about their code. But it's never been detailed exactly what's off limits and what's not, which makes it tough for me to know what I can say. In the interest of serving you, I tend to push the boundaries as far as I can, but (I repeat, from my earlier post) I hope you understand that the code is of course SOM's property and it's perfectly reasonable for them to be protective of it. So don't be surprised if I can't give you all the answers you're looking for.

And of course, the latest questions from Bio. Man are in that murky area. Here's my best shot at answering them, and other questions posed in this thread.

[i:e462d8a2af]Do @ become hits?[/i:e462d8a2af]
Well, as tonymiller and marcus wilby have observed, they seem not to as a direct result from Pitch Count Fatigue. I'm unable to say (because I'm not certain) whether they ever become hits, but there might be the [i:e462d8a2af]possibility[/i:e462d8a2af] that they become hits when a pitcher reaches his "old school" point of weakness (e.g. 3 hits in 1 inning). I'll look into this.

[i:e462d8a2af]Do dice rolls gravitate?[/i:e462d8a2af]
Not certain yet, nor do I have explicit permission to discuss.

[i:e462d8a2af]How bad is F8, F0?[/i:e462d8a2af]
I doubt I could ever give you an explanation of this that's 1) better than what you've all apparently figured out already and 2) permissible for me to divulge. The only thing I can see that's left is to give you the actual code, which I'm sure you can understand is not an option.

Well... that's what I got for now. I hope I wasn't completely unhelpful. After reading through this and the other "Mystery" thread, it's clear that you've gleaned a LOT about how it works through your rigorous experiments and frankly, I think you already know more than SOM would be comfortable with anyone ever knowing!

And in fact, I can see now that the fact that I proceeded to include the F ratings right in the play-by-plays - without SOM's permission! - has helped you reach this point, so I wouldn't blame them if they were to disapprove. I know this is not what you're looking for, but please understand my neck is pretty far out there as it is.

Why do you have to "stick your neck out" to be unhelpful? Can't you ask one of your bosses or the makers of SOM to come up with some kind of acceptable statement (a few sentences to a paragraph) detailing what they can tell us about it?

You haven't told us much of anything, and I think if you're going to make changes to the game (e.g. Bullpen v2) and brag about how it's improving things, we should have some kind of idea how it actually improves things rather than just taking your word for it.

Thanks, Bernie, for explaining why you can't say anything. That never occurred to me since most of the game engine is right there for the world to see.
