Ok, we will begin the stadium draft immediately after the regular draft finished, on this board, on a separate thread I'll call 24 Keep Draft. The clock will begin at 10 am EST the day after the regular draft finished. We will have a 2-hour time limit for all choices not 3, cause you have lots of warning, and not one, because it is tougher to do proxies on the board. Fell free to e-mail me, or other folks that watch the board frequently during the day, to leave proxies. The clock for the prospect draft will not begin til the stadium draft is over, but if whomever is up wished to draft their prospects , they may do so, But, again, the clock for the prospect will not start til the stadium draft finishes. As soon as the stadium draft is over, you may begin loading your teams, by division, Hopefully Chuck will give us more details on that.

Hi Guys,

Can you fill me in on the prospect draft. What players can we draft and does anyone have a good list for them? How many rounds? All the good stuff.

Prospect drafts:
1) There is 1 prospect draft during each year, including the 1st season.
2) The first yearly prospect draft is 2 rounds and will be held immediately after our initial season's draft. The second Prospect draft will be held after the spring free agent draft in 2010. The third Prospect draft will be held after the 2011 annual spring free agen draft and so on.
3) Only those players without MLB experience and signed prior to the start of that MLB season, are eligible for any prospect draft.
4) All prospect drafts are non-serpentine, and draft order is based on the previous season's regular season records and determined by a lottery (see annual spring draft below for details).
5) Owners lose rights to all prospects that they release; Released prospects are eligible to be drafted as either a) Free Agents if they were issued SOM cards or b) prospects again if never issued SOM cards and have no MLB experience.
6) There is a 1 hour clock for both, round 1 and round 2 of each prospect draft. (proxies are encouraged).
8) Individual owners are responsible for their own prospect research.

Hi thisisray,

Thanks for the info. If a player played for the first time this year does that lock him out of being a prospect?

I believe that it would be a player that has no experience prior to this year.

Hi,

Sorry to be a pain with the prospect questions but what happens if a players is picked as a prospect and there is a question about that player having signed a contract? How is that taken care of with someone getting skipped?

From previous experience in these type of leagues, the majority consider any player that is part of the current year's MLB draft off-limits. I'm in 5 leagues that have prospect drafts and only one allows current year draftee's.

So in this year's prospect draft guys like Stephen Strasburg aren't eligible.

That makes it 1) easier to keep track of who signed a contract; and 2) leaves some talent for next year's prospect draft.

Someone noted a while back that we must have a legal team when the draft comes, 14 hitters including one at each position and 2 catchers. 11pitchers including 5 starters and 4 pure releivers.

Just for the heck of it,I went through the teams as drafted who needs what to have a legal team. i checked out pitchers and catchers, as those seemed to be the most likely things someone would miss. many teams need one more pitcher of any type. I will list the other needs here:
Smitty - 2 pitchers
idanred- 1 catcher
Litangel - 1 Reliever
MCC - 1 catcher
PG2 - 1 Catcher
Rant - 1 Starter
Turtle - 1 catcher
Ray - 1 reliever

That's correct ray.

For example, Matt Wieters, Chris Coghlan and Rick Porcello would be eligible. Stephen Strasburg and anyone else who was signed during the 2009 MLB season would not. Anyone who had even 1 AB or pitched 1/3 of an inning prior to the 2009 MLB season would NOT be eligible.

Sorry it took me so long to clarify this. I've had computer problems all day. :?
