The Very Early Pre Card Draft Chat

Postby Palmtana » Fri Oct 23, 2009 9:01 pm

I think Borbon gets a card because he is so slanted and his numbers vs. RHP aren't outrageous. Think Jason Tyner with a couple of the LH single rolls moved to the other side, some HR pop and Ellsbury speed. 19 SB's in 157 AB's. A definite platoon though.

visick, is there going to be a supplemental draft after the defensive ratings come out in December like there was in this draft last year?

I didn't have one in my pre-card draft last season. I think the one geekor ran had one. (I was in that one as well)

I hadn't thought about it till now. If it's that important to everyone, we can.

Let's get some input from the managers 1st.

Can you explain exactly what the supplemental draft would entail? That would make it easier to comment on.

Oh, Ok. I didn't realize you had your own pre-card draft last year. It [b:7ab3149462]was[/b:7ab3149462] geekor's league that had the supplemental draft. Dave, it's just 2 more rounds of drafting after the defense ratings come out.

I suppose that would be fine to have the supplemental draft. I'm not sure how much of an impact that will make after 12 rounds of drafting. I don't think we've missed too many big $$ guys yet.

Would we keep the same draft order or do a new one?

We could prolly reverse the order of the draft if we decide on an extra 2 rounds.

I don't care if we go an extra 2 rounds AFTER the defensive ratings are officially posted. I can't see it making much of a difference at this point.

But like I said, if the majority wants it...

Don't care either way, but would NOT want the draft after Strat or TSN's card set comes out, that sort of seems opposed to the spirit of the league, having to guess!

I'm in favor of keeping the draft as is. Guestimation only.

Anyone have thoughts on their best and worst draft picks?

From looking at the teams so far I'm one of the few (only?) drafters who is building a pitching park team. Consequently, I have not been disappointed with any of my position player picks. The rub will come with my pitching. Last year when I did one of these I ended up with 5 S5-6 hurlers. It worked out OK.
