Question

Postby Sneezedoc » Wed Nov 04, 2009 11:18 pm

Can I draft 16 hitters and 9 pitchers (even though that won't get me in sync for the actual draft site) because that will be the final make-up of my team???

Sneeze- The only challenge is you will have to draft one pitcher that you obviously won't keep and that takes him out of circulation for others. I would suggest you draft a .50 guy nobody would want/need and drop him right away. Then you will have drafted one hitter that won't be on your draft card and will show up in the FA pool, but he's really yours.

Personally this doesn't bother me at all - but remember I was the perpetrator in the great Ed Spiezio controversy a couple drafts ago. Some people went nuts because I was drafting to meet the cap with a 24 man roster during a 25 round draft. Before and since then I have seen that done by others in other leagues without it being a big deal. But I was compelled to drop big Ed and do it differently.

So I would throw it out to the group to see if anyone protests. It's certainly fine with me!

Gents, I am going to be travelling all day and won't have internet access until late tonight or maybe tomorrow morning. I've set my last 8 proxies, but they're team specific (and a ball park). Based on how you guys have picked in this draft I might be lucky to get one or two of those players.

If the draft stalls at my pick, best I can say is I'll get back asap.

I remember it well.

I suppose I will (with my last pick) take a pitcher of 500,000 and then substitute a hitter of the same value from that team during Free agency...
THis way no one gets upset!
By the way, I took my only 2-fer a team with the Dodgers...couldn't pass up Hall of Famer Don Sutton in the 18th round as my 4th starter!!!!

Yeah, I couldn't believe Sutton lasted this long. I couldn't afford him, but he's been the best player available for quite a while.

You guys didn't hear? Sutton is scheduled for Tommy John surgery - and theoretically if he has it in '69 it may come to be known as "Don Sutton surgery" in the future, as it predates Tommy's surgery. Mind numbing stuff! :?
