Have to or can? Big difference.

You have to draft 11, but you can drop to 10 anywhen after. It does provide with more flexibility.

Note that 24 players is now the required minimum.

[quote:98a9c5dbe4]Draft requirements

You must choose exactly 11 pitchers. At least:
5 of your pitchers must have a starting pitcher endurance rating (e.g. S6).
4 of your pitchers must be "pure" relievers (i.e. a relief rating (e.g. R2) but no starter rating).
1 of your pitchers must have a closer endurance rating (e.g. C4).
A pitcher who has both a relief and a closer rating (e.g. R1/C6) counts towards both requirements.
You must choose exactly 14 hitters.
2 of your hitters must be eligible to play catcher.

[quote:98a9c5dbe4]Your Roster

At all times, you must have at least 24 players and no more than 28 players on your roster.
You must have at least 13 and no more than 17 hitters. At least two of those hitters must be eligible to play catcher.
You must have at least 10 and no more than 12 pitchers.
You must have at least 5 pitchers who have starting pitcher Endurance ratings (for example: S7).
You must have at least 4 pitchers who are "pure" relievers (i.e. a relief rating (e.g. R2) but no starter rating).
You must have at least 1 pitcher who has a closer Endurance rating (e.g. C4).

it was so much challenging to draft for 2006 after drafting so many 2005 teams!!!

Interesting about the requirement for four 'pure' relievers. That is going to limit your ability to do a lot of spot starting. Not sure I like this change. I always liked having a couple of extreme starter/relievers (like a Wakefield or Haren in '05) that you could spring on the occasional team that has seven or eight lefty bats in its lineup.

teepack, you can still do that but you may have to use cheaper pitchers.

Teepack:

Whycantcha?

No one passed a law that says you can't carry a 4-man, 4 relievers, 1 closer if you wish (or include him in the 4 relievers), plus up to THREE spot starters. You're talking about cheap guys weither in the 4-man pen, and or combo S/R types.

What am I missing?

The 6-starters/4 relievers combo is still possible.

HAL

Postby JimKomurek » Thu Mar 16, 2006 5:09 am

Hal has done a poor job handling relief pitchers. I had Brian Powell on several teams last year and HAL would never bring him in. (SP/RP) I never slated him as a starter. My theory is that this simpler setup will allow HAL to manage better.
Turd.
