Defense, throwing arm

I know you generally want to play the person at the position first on their card. For outfielders, however, can I assume that if they have the same defensive rating for either of the other two outfield positions that it wouldn't make any difference? Also, I assume the arm rating is the same regardless of which position they are in? Thanks.

Yes and yes. For example Andre Ethier (3e2) is just as good in LF and RF, and his arm is a -2 at both. Obviously, if you have Ethier and Nick Swisher (3(+1)e9), you want to start Ethier in RF and Swisher in LF to take advantage of the better throwing arm in RF.

Actually, I believe the biggest benefit is to have the strongest arm in CF.

Why is that? Is there evidence that more hit chances (e.g. single(cf)) exist for CF over RF?

also in the board(super advanced) game OF's arm are adjusted for throws to certain bases(check me on this)...it may be the case here as well. I remember this being discussed a few years back

That's not true at all. I DO think the doubles that are not specifically directed to a particular outfielder go to CF, but there are plenty of single and double chances with no *'s that go to RF and LF.

Flipping through a bunch of cards, I have not yet seen a single with no *'s that is not directed to an outfielder.

If the outfielder to whom the ball is hit isn't specified, it's assumed to be the CF. Maybe that's what [b:b58391c4b9]splinter[/b:b58391c4b9] meant.

Runners attempting to go from 1st to 3rd on hits to RF add 10% to their chances. Runners attempting to go from 1st to 3rd on hits to LF subtract 10% from their chances.
