ATG v5 implications to theme league

Postby 2cityfan » Tue Nov 17, 2009 3:47 pm

The other issue besides a player like Speaker who could potentially go to 2 different franchises, is do we incorporate the Negro league player cards.. the posting stated there would be 103 cards.. Those players never played for the established franchises so it would be hard to add them in without rearranging the team groupings..

or not use them at all.
I am not that into adding the Negro Leagues cards players, simply because I enjoy the historicity of ATG4, and other than a few big names like Paige and Gibson, i havent heard of most of these 103 were are going to get. May as well add Roy Hobbs, Casey, and that professor who invented some kind of formula that enabled him to pitch in almost unhittable fashion for the CArdinals(anyone else remember that movie?) Not hating on the Negro LEagues cards, just not a big draw to me.............

We could ceratinly continue this theme with not too much trouble,
--without the Negro League cards,
--with the ruling that, in the case of different carded teams like Speaker's, give the player to the region where the player has the highest salary (since we are playing with higher salary caps)
--OR, form a committee to decide on each player in the same situation as Speaker will be........this seems like the worst idea, would be subjective and time-consuming

According to a post by BernieH, ATG4 will remain in tact until middle of next year... so there really should be no changes to completing this league as planned.

That's what I was going to say too, we can probably still play 4 even though 5 is out.

And I also agree about the Negro players. No one heard of most of them, stats were poorly kept, talent pool not as good so stats are perhaps over rated.

I could just as easily come up with a card for Juan Mota. He couldn't get off the island, so he had to play in the Cuban Baseball Association from 1964-1979. I'll invent a 1971 card when he hit .391 with 58 doubles, 7 triples and 41 homeruns and he was the Cuban gold glove winner at 3rd base, so we'll give him a range of 1 and make him a e7

Hit him 3rd and Roy Hobbs 4th :D

Unfortunate delay but on the plus side at least we heard from him
