Actually, J-Pav, I have it that Iannetta is a better hitter than Longoria, at least in neutral settings, with a 70-30 R-L ratio. Iannetta has better on-base, Longoria has more power, but using a traditional linear weight's method, Iannetta comes out better by 3.2%. Adjusted to your current stadium, the difference jumps to 7.2%.

Now, comparing defense between different positions is tough, but I have it that Iannetta is roughly equal to Longoria compared to the bench mark I use for catchers and third basemen. Slight edge for Longoria in the running game, but it doesn't make up for the difference in offense.

But of course, because Longoria's assets is power, his runs and rbis will always look inflated compared to other players...that's the whole issue why sabermetricians don't like runs and rbis.

BTW, I called it "the Dream team" only for reference purpose (this is how the team was called in the initial team). I certainly can understand the tough position of making choices when you don't have the players you first requested.

I'm talking about as a replacement for Longoria at 3B. My point is that without going up in salary, all that's left is maybe Rolen (I-3), and I would have done that if I had gotten Keppinger to platoon against LHP. But since I didn't, there's nothing left without going up to Glaus or Wright. The combination of hitting equally well against both LHP and RHP makes Longoria a good value in my estimation.

But I just lost another two of three, so...
