Sykes, what are your standards for HOF status? I'm not questioning your right to submit a blank ballot but I am wondering what it would take for someone to get your vote. You're not easily impressed are you?

Are none of these guys good enough to get a vote?:

Willie McCovey
- 294 HRs, 840 RBIs, 760 Runs scored over 8 seasons (ave. of 37 HR, 105 RBI, 95 R)
- career OBP of .400, career SLG of .577
- 3 seasons of slugging over .600 and 4 seasons of OBP over .400
- 1 World Series ring
- 1st team All-Star twice, 1st team Silver Slugger twice
- 2nd team All-Star twice, 2nd team Silver Slugger twice

Reggie Smith
- 220 HRs, 846 RBI, 806 Runs over 8 season (ave. of 35 HR, 106 RBI, 100 R)
- career OBP of .373, SLG of .529
- SLG over .600 twice, over .500 five times, OBP over .400 three times
- 1st team All=Star once, Silver Slugger once
- 2nd team All=Star twice, 2nd team Silver Slugger once

Jerry Koosman
- 170 wins, 1623 K over 10 seasons (ave. 17 W, 162 K)
- career ERA of 3.58, WHIP of 1.26 and Winning Percentage of .547 (on a team that didn't win a lot -- no offense BigA)
- won 20 or more games five times, struck out 200 or more twice, ERA below 3.00 three times
- All-Star selection five times

Tom Seaver
- 152 wins, 2052 K over (average of 19 wins, 256 K)
- career ERA of 3.46, 1.24 WHIP and .559 WP
- won 20 or more three times, stuck out 200 or more eight times
- two World Series rings
- one MVP, one Cy Young
- All-Star selection four times

And I found four additional guys to vote for. What does it take to get Sykes' vote??

Yikes, I think that Sykes was one of the 9 who did not vote for Hank Aaron either.

Sykes are you in a fantasy sports reporter league and these guys all refused your interview? Did you call Willie McCovey, Chrissy because he struck out 3 times in a row and he responded by knocking over a table?

I'm planning to get a ballot in soon, just been a bit busy with the holiday, baby, and work.

I've got it narrowed down to 19. Guess I'm the anti-Sykes!

Just turned in my ballot. Some tough choices, I ended up putting 9 on my ballot. It was helpful to look at the all-time leaderboards to see where the players ranked, although I did give consideration to those with shorter careers that had excellent rate stats.

I assume we'll vote at the end of each season now? And that everybody will be eligible, not just those that are freshly retired?

I assume based on that breakdown -- if the 12th person doesn't vote -- only one player would make the HOF?
