Will a 5 kill you at 3b?

Will a 5 kill you at 3b?

Seriously, I know this is the year of platooning, but where is the platoon vs righties for 3b? All the cheap 3b hit lefties, not righties.

So I picked up Harris to platoon with Bell, but he's a 5e19? That won't kill me, right?

If this helps any...

I often used Mora @ 3B in 2005. He was good for between 20-30 errors.

He was a 3e25.

I think it's a recipe for disaster IMHO. He won't get to ANY balls and those that he gets to he'll throw into the stands behind 1B.

well I need Bell's bat vs lefties....

hmmm I could pick up Everett at SS, and move Arod to 3b vs righties....

but I'd have to scrape some some extra cash somewhere....

That's a good question. It's a hedged bet. Does the offense you get in return mitigate the bad defense? Would putting a cheap bad defense platoon at 3rd allow you to substantially improve your team, otherwise? I think we all know you can get away with using 1B, 3B, or a corner outfield spot as a dumping ground for a no-D big bat. I don't have the probabilities handy, but I'd imagine that, after SS 2B and CF, 3rd base would probably be the position with the highest occurence of X-chances. Pick your poison. Carefully.

Would you play a 5 in center if all he could gve up is S/2's? The 3B has the same # of X chances. In fact, I'll check my chart when I get home. I'll bet a corner 5 infielder can give up doubles.

What LM said.

ok ok...

I dropped Shelton for Gibbons and picked up A Everett to play SS vs righties moving Arod to 3b. I'm still playing Bell vs lefties so there :P

LOL...sounds like he should play 1B eh?

On a side note...I hope I get Shelton.
