I'm good with the autodraft for all rounds but I do think we should have unique stadiums. At least you should not be allowed to repeat stadiums, except the F12.

Unique stadiums sounds fine to me. Every player must use a different stadium in each of the 4 leagues, even though Riverfront in the 70s and 80s differ. That will force managers to play in stadiums where they may not be in their comfort zone. A significant points penalty will be used if someone tries to sneak into the same stadium.

Not many players play in a non-DH league, but I'll check with the man behind the curtain for further changes.

You may want to reword that rule or else I'll likely be using Fulton County Stadium and Arlington Stadium in the 80s. =)

Unique stadiums means that out of your 4 teams, one must be played in a pitcher's park (yuk), one must be played in a hitter's park, one must be played in a neutral park (like Veterans) and the 4th can be played in any park that has not been chosen by you before. Also, your two 70s teams must be in a hitters/pitchers, hitters/neutral, or pitchers/neutral combinations as would be your 80s team. No stadiums can be duplicated.

So, Voovits, your 80s teams can not be Fulton County AND Arliington in the 80s because they are both hitting parks. You can go Fulton/pitching park or Fulton/neutral park. If you chosse Fulton/neutral parks in the 80s, you will have to a pick a pitcher's park/your choice 9no duplicates) for the 70s.

This makes it a challenge for me since I like the Kingdome and despise parks like Oakland. (I always lose 100 games in Oakland) However, to be named the Greatest Mystery Strat player in the world, I must demonstrate
the ability to conquer other parks. That would make this tournament more exciting and unpredicitable.

Hey Chess,

should we have a measuring stick for pitchers vs. neutral vs. hitters?

Is there a standard measure, or would something like this work:

30 or less is a pitchers park
31-49 is a neutral park
and 50 or more is a hitters park?

so, exhibition stadium, for example, at 1-6, 1-6, 1-9, 1-9, would be 6+6+9+9=30 and be classified as a pitchers park?

thanks.

I think it should be based soley on the BPHR rating. I would say max of 5 for either L or R (anywhere from 0-0 to 5-5) would be a pitcher's park. A minimum of 13 both ways would be a HR park and a rating of between 6-12 both ways would be a neutral park.

Anyway something like that.

Well, I think there needs to be a clear cut list of stadiums and what they are to be designated as.
1-8 is considered neutral for stadiums in the strat world, so at or around 1-8 should be the benchmark for neutrality.
Though I disagree that single chances should not factor into what's considered a hitters park or not, I don't think it should be an equal factor as homeruns would be.
Do you really consider Royals Stadium to be a pitchers park? 1-16 singles, 1-2 homeruns. I would consider it closer to neutral.
Would you consider both Olympic (1-10 single 1-9 HR) and Candlestick (1-2 SI 1-9 HR) neutral parks? I would consider Candlestick to be more of a pitchers park.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I'm fine with whatever the final decision is.
I'll play in almost any stadium, I just feel there should be a clear cut list of which stadiums belong in which category before we start.

We should stick with one unique stadium for each round and call it good. Rating the stadiums is too subjective, and it sounds like a lot of police work and/or possible innocent mistakes. How would those be corrected???

Personally, I think the most competitive way to do this would be to let each player pick whatever stadium he or she wants for each round, even if they're all KingDome teams. The best 70/80s player isn't the one who can build a good team in any ballpark, its the one who can consistently win with whatever strategy he or she has perfected.

PS. Now can I get into the Hospitality Suite??? :D

My opinion is that most people signed up for the tourney with the original rules stated. We should have only minor changes and some clarifications from that. I'm not picky though so I will go with whatever is decided.
