In Metropolitan or Fulton Woodie Held has the second highest amount of HR chances against RHed pitching in the entire 69 deck (tied with Reggie at 19, only McCovey has more).

Since the 69 pitching universe is about 2/3 RH, 1/3 LH, if you choose Metro or Fulton (or Shibe or Fenway to a slighly lesser extent) Held will hit 40+ HRs.

He plays six different positions, which means in an auction such as this whoever gets him has a lot of flexibility in what he has to bid on later.

Personally, I think the folks who really think 6 mil is too much for Held probably aren't real familiar with the TSN 69 set. There are many, many over priced cards and several severely underpriced ones. Held has one of the latter.

Fair enough. And you're right I'm not familiar with the 1969 set so in that respect I am the newbie here.

But even in ATG which has its own set of bargains and duds, I've never seen a player pushed this high over value and I have noticed in the other auctions that I'm in there have been some bizarre over-bids on players that definitely don't qualify as under-valued and they all came from first time auction owners.

I don't need to bid on Held. I've got a woody right here. And I would add that, in my opinion, at this stage of the draft, the most overpaid player is Fregosi, hands down. Aparicio is much better.

That's interesting. I'm well familiar with players who don't perform to their cards and vice versa (In ATG I never seem to get my money's worth with Charlie Gehringer, and if you can avoid a 15-game injury Chick Hafey is fantastic), but that being said, other than the speed advantage, I don't see anything, statistically anyway, that would indicate Aparicio would perform better than Fregosi.

Fregosi has better OBP vs righties but Aparicio is better than Fregosi in speed, stealing, and Aparicio is a * ruunner. Both are poor clutch hitters, but Fregosi is probably the worst clutch hitter in the league. Fregosi is a good fielding and hitting ss, but his card is way overpriced.

A lot of things in an auction draft can get weird price-wise. I look at Aparicio as by far and away the best SS left (of course outside of Petrocelli) so he is going to go for more than he is worth but I don't want to be personally stuck with a poor fielding SS who can't hit especially after sealing up Peterson and Marichal to head my pitching staff....
A lot of this is changing on the fly!
