[b:c2b49da9e1]ballpark: [/b:c2b49da9e1] Small ball, specifically the most pitcher-friendly park in your team set

[b:c2b49da9e1]divisions:[/b:c2b49da9e1] East: NY PreWar, NY PostWar, New England, Philly
Central: Midwest PreWar, Midwest PostWar, RustBeltPreWar, RustBelt Post War
West: Grab Bag, St. Louis, Capital City, West Coast

[b:c2b49da9e1]pre-draft:[/b:c2b49da9e1] a three-round, non-serpentine draft of any player either in your team set (to protect him) or carded to another franchise but who appeared in a uniform for your franchise. This will be your only opportunity to swipe players from another manager. If you select someone, he must be a part of your SOM draft list or you'll lose him to the carded owner.

The draft will be structured in reverse order of the current franchise standings, with the weakest team drafting first and the strongest last in all three rounds. The order will be determined as of the end of play on Sunday, Jan. 3, when season three concludes, and will include results of the partial seasons currently underway.

MArty, i think i know, but you need to specify if we can draft only players from our Era as well. For instance i have the DET CHC CHW Post-war group. I assume I cannot draft a player who played for one of those franchises in the Pre-war Era.
correct?

BTW, what a devious, self-serving way to set up the league when you have the Capital City Stinkers. :P

I like it! :D

Merry Christmas everybody!

Way to go Magic! Probably the ONLY way to make that wreck of a franchise competitive and you found it. For your sake, I hope it works. I know I would NEVER have thought of it -way too mentally limited. Truly a genius evil. :D

You are correct, Andy. Sorry for the oversight. We'll only be able to draft folks from our era, as you assumed.

Thanks, Steve. I thought the minimum pitching cap was pretty devious. I'm surprised no one's used it before, at least in my experience.

I think this event will end up being fine, but it does seem like these rules are pushing the "simplicity" guideline when developing rules for each event. I was under the assumption that we could make one rule, but I see three rules in one here (pitching salary cap, ballpark, and draft)

Im going to weigh in here today at some point. I need to think about this before I do. My initial reaction to this league is in fact that there are too many stipulations (rules) being enacted by the rule maker.

I'll be back today to let you all know.

I'll be happy to comply with your decision, Novie. I inadvertantly confused this league with another I'm in. That one allows the rule-caller complete leeway in league structure.

OK... needed a few minutes here to ponder this... actually, needed a lil nap!

I do feel that there is too much going on with the rules. The idea has been to allow each owner to "tweak" things to give their franchise an opportunity to maximize their assets and cover their weaknesses, but not to this extent.

So, here is a "thought" for majic so he can make an adjustment. Combining the drafting/stealing of players with the pitching/small ball idea is actually two themes at once. I would suggest going with one idea or the other is fine. Majic you can alter the theme if you want... you could add more draft rounds if you used that theme... or tweak the small ball idea some.

Thats it... up to majic at this point to make the final plans.
