And Bill, I agree with you about Star Wars IV-VI, Although Vi was OK. I disagree with you about Sin City, however, perhaps because I am very familiar with the graphic novels...

You have to see Avatar. I read a critique (a good one), which called it "Dancing with Smurfs." The story is very similar to Dancing with Wolves, just replace the Native Americans with 12-foot tall, blue aliens...

Comparisons to Dances with Wolves, or even Pochahontas, have validity, as the Avatar plot has real similarities. Of course, it's a Sci-Fi movie, set about 140 years in the future, so you have the Avatar program, hi-tech weaponry, gunships, etc. (at least for the humans). As for the experience, I would include this at the top of my personal list of movies that engrossed/immersed/thrilled me more than other films; that list would include The first and second Star Wars movies (original), The first and second Terminator movies, perhaps Silence of the Lambs. But really, Avatar is at the top. And the 3D & Motion Capture effects are the ICING, NOT the only reason to see the movie. But it's delicious icing. :)
