FYI, don't expect answers to any further questions posted in this thread. I set aside the time today and answered as many as I could.

Is it possible to list in the play by play the actual dice rolls ? And how about a "live ticker" when the game is running? Props on the 2006 games new features[/i:e150acada7]

[color=darkblue:e150acada7]Both of those things are on my to do list, but NO promises.[/color:e150acada7][/quote:e150acada7]

This is my #1 request (dice rolls/card results). It's my theory that since we are abviously dealing with a game engine that is a version of the CD ROM game on auto-play, this is something that ALREADY EXISTS AND HAS SINCE THE 90's!

This would really help managing a team. You could figure out who to blame when something goes wrong, and less often it would be HAL himself. The general assumption by all is that when a hit is give up late in the game, it was the pitcher, but often I'm sure you have to tip your cap to the hitter.

It would be so great to know the difference.

To me, the biggest hurdle to get over in instituting game options like this, is that TSN/SOM underestimates the sophistication of the audience. Otherwise known as the customer.

I agree with bleacher..knowing if the outcome was the result of the hitter or the pitcher's card would be helpful. Easier to make player decisions according to actual results. And a live ticker would be great to watch if possible...

Let's take these 3 innings as am example :

*** TOP OF INNING 1 ***
0 B.Doran 5 Ground Out b-0
1 S.Crawford 6 Walk b-1
1 1 G.Hodges 4 Ground Out Double Play 1-o b-0
*** BOTTOM OF INNING 1 ***
0 M.Wills 5 Ground Out b-0
1 B.Weaver 1 Single b-1
1 1 A.Simmons 5 Home Run 1-H b-H
1 H.Wilson 1 Ground Out b-0
2 C.Cooper 5 Line Out b-0
*** TOP OF INNING 2 ***
0 B.Dickey 4 Walk b-1
0 1 J.Collins 1 Single 1-2 b-1
0 12 L.Bowa 1 Force Play 2-3 1-o b-1
1 1 3 J.Hall 4 Single 3-H 1-3 b-1
1 1 3 M.Alou 5 Line Out b-0
2 1 3 S.Carlton 1 2 Base Error - 3B 3-H 1-3 b-2
2 23 B.Doran 3 Line Out b-0
*** BOTTOM OF INNING 2 ***
0 D.Ennis 5 Fly Out b-0
1 S.Lollar 1 Home Run b-H
1 R.Schoendienst 2 Ground Out b-0
2 A.Brazle 5 Ground Out b-0
*** TOP OF INNING 3 ***
0 S.Crawford 7 1 Base Error - 3B b-1
0 1 G.Hodges 2 Line Out b-0
1 1 B.Dickey 6 Single 1-o b-2
2 2 J.Collins 2 Pop Out b-0
*** BOTTOM OF INNING 3 ***
0 M.Wills 1 Fly Out b-0
1 B.Weaver 6 Fly Out b-0
2 A.Simmons 2 Fly Out b-0

Now the game is generating these stats anyways , would it be that much more to put :

0 B.Doran 5 Ground Out b-0 2R 5R (R = Roll)
or
1 B.Weaver 1 Single b-1 3R 9R 9R (which would mean 3 on the 1st die : 9 on the 2nd throw (which is split ) and 9R on the split roll (20 sided) .

Radicals,

They already have this figured out with detail. I don't own a current copy of the CD ROM game, but results go something like this:

-FB LFx...roll = 14 result: flyout.

Obviously these are in the pitcher's card.

-BP reading...hitters card...1-7 - HR...result = 5; HOMERUN!

That's not exact, but it's an option in the CD ROM game to see the rolls etc... It tells the complete story.

I'm calling them on it because it's BY CHOICE on the part of TSN/SOM, not lack of programming that we don't get the results.

I have the cd also and it gives you the actual results of the play . That's all I'm asking for here is that same kind of detail , simplified .

Okay, stop it, bleacher_creature. It is not by choice, and never did I say or imply that we're intentionally hiding the die rolls. I wasn't aware that it was an option in the CD-ROM game. Our play-by-plays show exactly what our version of the code shows - no more, no less.

You are welcome to make requests, but kindly refrain from making unfounded accusations. I think I've shown a profound willingness to listen to suggestions and make appropriate improvements as long as we are able and they make sense to the game. So I think we've earned some benefit of the doubt.

I'll be contacting SOM to see if they have some updated code that supports these features.

I would rather not see the dice rolls ... at least for the 80s game which is all I play. That would ruin the Mystery Card concept. I wouldn't mind more info in the play-by-play, such as what field a play is hit to, who gets the put outs and assists.
