Why don't settings control?

Game 121 vs. first place team and Guetterman comes in as reliever. His settings are "Avoid Right Handed Batters" and "Quick Hook" but neither happens (and yes I have plenty of relievers). He faces Oglivie (L), Brenly (R), Tabler (R), Madlock(R), Yount(R), Gorman Thomas (R) who hits 3 run homer to win the game, then finally another lefty (Lowenstein) then back to a righty (Valentine). This doesn't even seem close to the setting instruction. Does Hal have some kind of random behavior override?
