24-team playoffs

24-team playoffs

Congrats to The Turtle for 117 wins in the first regular season of the 24-team keeper league -- an outstanding accomplishment!

There were 5 teams, in fact, with excellent records of 99 wins or more. Because of the current 24-team league structure, however, 2 of those teams did not even make it to the playoffs.

That's certainly legitimate for this round, since we knew from the start that only 4 teams would be in the playoffs for now. There was some talk originally of changing that to an 8-team playoff round and I was wondering what progress had been made on the coding changes for that?

4 division leaders plus 4 wild cards would keep the season more interesting, I believe...

Wow, 117 is excellent! And 5 with 99 or more!! There must have been some truly awful records too, in order to balance that out.

I totally agree with expanding the playoff teams in the 24-team format. It seems divisions seem to get decided a lot sooner than in the 12-team format, making a good chunk of the season pretty anti-climatic (sp?).

This league was a keeper league, just starting out with one season using the 2008 cards, with subsequent years playing 2 seasons per year. As such strategy varied wildly. Some went more heavily towards good 2008 players, some more heavily to good 2009 players and some to those they expect to do well further down the road. As such in a 200 mill league roster values ranged willdly and really good teams and really bad teams were expected. As such these are not typical results.

While I like the current concept of all playoff teams getting a credit, I am thinking that inclusion of wild cards would be better for the overall interest in the 24 team concept.
