Several of CATom's bids on Chouinard have been invalid, he only has 3.1 disposable income (what we can spend over .5 minimum bids, and at least two (2.4 and 2.9) of his bids combined with his bids at the time on Varitek and/or Paquette to be over what he can spend. His current bid is legal, because others have overbid him currently on Paquette and Varitek, but I think that the bidding on Chouinard should be rewound to either my 1.9 or JMP's 2.4 and bid from there, since we would not have gotten to 3.1 without the invalid bids

If I am reading this right (and I stated this before) CATom has 3.1 discretionary money which means the highest he can bid on a guy and still put 0.5M on everyone else is ACTUALLY 3.6M.

Right now he has 9.6M left and 13 guys/stadium to still get. If he spends 3.6M on one, he will have 6M left for the other 12 (which is 0.5M each) so his actual (and everyone's for that matter) highest amt he can bid is 3.6M.

The point about bidding on multiple players brings up a new point. I think he should be able to bid on all 3 until he wins one and then must drop out of any other bidding (and if he's winning an auction have his latest bid rescinded).

my 2 cents as the issue hasn't been addressed.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but if CATom bid beyond his allowable cash, the bid is invalid.

You cannot bid on a player if you cannot claim him. Period. It is not fair to bid on three players until you win one and drop or rescind your other bids as your bidding for a player which you would ultimately not be able to claim may unfairly raise the price on him for another manager.

I will go back and reconstruct his recent bidding and see if there are any irregularities that need to be addressed.

Okay, I sorted it out.

On Jan 6, 22:37 he made bids on Paquette 2.5, and Varitek 2.0. This already put him over the limit if he were to win both, but not one. Three minutes later he added a bid of 2.4 on Chouinard, also invalid.

Varitek and Chouinard were up bid in less than fifteen minutes leaving him only with Paquette at 2.5 which at this time would be a valid bid.

at 00:15 CATom bid 2.9 on Choinard. This bid is invalid as he still had an open bid on Paquette.

At 00:32 litangel responded with a 3.0 bid.
At 5:29 MikeLopp upbid Paquette at 2.6.
At 13:48 CATom bid 3.1 on Chouinard.

Now comes the part where a decision has to be made. Although the 3.1 bid was possible since the top bid on Paquette was now held by another, the 2.9 bid that raised the value of Choinard was not valid.

Therefore.... the verdict.

I'm canceling the 2.9 bid on Chouinard. The previous high bid was 2.6 by litangel at 23:38.

Although CATom's 3.1 bid was technically valid, the 2.9 bid that raised the price in the first place was not valid so I'm canceling the whole thing. He is of course welcome to continue bidding on Chouinard, but if he were to place a bid of 2.7, he must be aware that he cannot exceed 1.4 on any other player.

So... to summarize:

1) The present high bid on Chouinard is 2.6 and belongs to litangel at 23:38

2) CATom you are running out of money, please check your finances.

NOT RIGHT !!!!!

Postby CATom » Thu Jan 07, 2010 9:35 pm

though the bids were made without intent to raise a players amount I THINK ALL BIDS ARE VALID!!!

I had 3.1m to spend -- NOW you are telling me that if i have been bidding on a player ALL THE WAY and have anothe bid out at 2.o and the bid on "my" guy goes to 1.1 I CANNOT CONTINUE TO BID????? BULL!! Now if I win one and I am the ONLY competing bidder on nthe other maybe put that bid back to where it started BUT if two others are bidding then it should NOT be reset!! Simply DO NOT BID and let me win and I will pick the ones I WANT THE MOST :)

JMO ------ Tom.

BTW ---- did anyone notice I DID NOT bid OVER 3.1 on ANY OF THEM???

They are not valid.

You cannot bid on a player if you cannot afford to take him should you win.

So far you have:
Sammy Sosa rf-3(-2)e9 cf-4e9 8.9
Randy Velarde 2b-3e15 4.4
Pedro Martinez S7/R4 12.9
Kenny Rogers S6 3.9
Jason Giambi 1b-3e8 8.8
Jay Bell 2b-3e25 ss-4e22 5.9
John Rocker R1/C5 4.2
Alex Ochoa lf-2(-3)e7 rf-3e7 cf-4e7 4.5
Doug Johns R3 1.9
Scott Elarton S6/R3/C0 3.9
Carl Everett cf-2(-2)e8 rf-2e8 6.9
Chan Ho Park S6* 0.9
Denny Neagle S6 3.3

This is 13 players at 70.4 million. This leaves you with 9.6 million for 12 players and a stadium. Subtracting the minimum 0.5 you are left with 3.1 million extra money. You cannot bid in excess of this amount. Ever. You cannot bid with money you don't have.

[quote:aa9f4979b9]NOW you are telling me that if i have been bidding on a player ALL THE WAY and have anothe bid out at 2.o and the bid on "my" guy goes to 1.1 I CANNOT CONTINUE TO BID????? [/quote:aa9f4979b9] You can keep bidding ALL THE WAY, but if your funds are drying up you cannot place other bids unless you have the money to buy them should you be the winner.

[quote:aa9f4979b9]Now if I win one and I am the ONLY competing bidder on nthe other maybe put that bid back to where it started BUT if two others are bidding then it should NOT be reset!![/quote:aa9f4979b9] It should be reset if you are bidding with money you don't have. Which is what you were doing.

[quote:aa9f4979b9]Simply DO NOT BID and let me win and I will pick the ones I WANT THE MOST[/quote:aa9f4979b9] Err, no. You win the ones you can afford to buy and leave the others alone.

[quote:aa9f4979b9]BTW ---- did anyone not ice I DID NOT bid OVER 3.1 on ANY OF THEM???[/quote:aa9f4979b9] This has been noticed but you bid collectively in excess of this amount.
