2-Team Theme (1999)...LOAD EM UP...WILLIE!!!

Postby KEVINEHLE » Fri Jan 15, 2010 3:39 pm

Yeah, I can hear the window slowly closing on our chances to fill our league tonight. Our only chance is Willie filling the East by 6PM and none of the Central and West guys have lives and can fill the league on a Friday Night.

What are the Las Vegas odds on that?

I thought I was being creative by only changing one letter on my name - Boston Red Rox. I can pronounce my teams name at least (not that anyone would hear me).

I am the most creative of all as I didn't change anything. Oakland Yankees is my team name.
Actually, when I started thinking about it, I really couldn't come up with much from combining New York Yankees and Oakland A's. You guys are creative......what should have I called my team? Oak York A-Yanks?

New Oak Yank-A's, almost sounds like New York Yankees.

Team Monikers

Postby pcbaseballsims » Fri Jan 15, 2010 4:45 pm

DB: RedRox! Love it. A little alliteration never hurt, rolls of the tongue.

Oakland, the East Bay, home & breeding ground for so many baseball legends: Frank Robinson, Joe Morgan, Vada Pinson, etc.

A's management/ownership desperately wants a new stadium, preferably in San Jose (new stadium in Fremont nixed), but Giants claim thats their territory & they'll sue.

I have no life @ draft time...besides its TGIF...playing hookey early. Load!

More Team Names & a (real) TRADE!

DB: I love...Oakland [b:9d70e642aa]Oaks[/b:9d70e642aa]-Yanks! In honor of the ol Pacific Coast lg Oaks.

Speaking of the Oakland A's...Breaking (TRADE) news...off the hi speed sports wire...this just in:

S.D. young gun (37), new GM [b:9d70e642aa]Jed Hoyer[/b:9d70e642aa], ex of the Red Sox, engineers his 1st trade: slugging 3B [b:9d70e642aa]Kevin KOUZ[/b:9d70e642aa]manoff, robbed of the gold glove award, is headed to the Athletics for power hitting OF Aaron [b:9d70e642aa]Cunningham[/b:9d70e642aa] & former popular Padre OF Scotty Hairston who rejoins the Friars.

LF Chase [u:9d70e642aa]Headley[/u:9d70e642aa], returns to his natural posiiton at the hot corner, opening up a corner OF spot for either Cunningham or veteran OF Jermaine [b:9d70e642aa]DYE[/b:9d70e642aa], to whom the Pads extended an offer, "to DYE for," is a free agent (FA).

Yea, I don't get why mlb is so cold to signing Dye. Does he have an injury or something? He's a pretty solid slugger.

Ichiro!

Great timing...just saw on MLB Network last night, Jon Heyman pointed out that [b:df6202c870]Dye [/b:df6202c870]had an exc 1st half w/ .900+ OPS, but in the 2nd half his ops slipped to .572.

Reacquiring the veteran OF Hairston is surprising since the Padres emphasized a youthful OF finishing off last season w/ Tony Gwynn in CF, Will Venable RF, Big Kyle Blanks, LF. Maybe w/ Scott returning its means perhaps they wont pursue Dye, but I understood they had actually offered him a contract, maybe Dye doesnt want to play in a P's park.
