I would rather put a 4 in LF. CF is the position in the OF that the ball is hit to the most.

I agree with Joe. I'd put a 4 in LF over a 3 in CF 100 out of 100 times.

What is the rating of the other fielder?

If you have an outfielder who has the same fielding in cf and lf, then I would use that fielder in lf, and I would play the cf-3 over the lf-4!!

The difference is not huge, but a cf-3 will allow 0.9 hits per 216 AB, while a lf-4 will allow 1.1 hits per 216 AB. Edge to the cf-3.

lf-4(+1)e7 cf-3(0)e12 rf-2(-3)e9 lf-2e9 cf-2e9 rf-1(-3)e4

I had my line up set LF - rf-2(-3)e9 lf-2e9 cf-2e9; CF - cf-3(0)e12;
RF - rf-1(-3)e4 and DH - lf-4(+1)e7

I was just wondering if this would be better for defence: LF - lf-4(+1)e7;
CF - -2(-3)e9 lf-2e9 cf-2e9; RF - rf-1(-3)e4 and DH - cf-3(0)e12

I'd appreciate any statistical magic you could offer.

Well, I gave my advice not taking into account the arm rating. I stand by my numbers above, but the arm effect well compensates for the increased nb of hits.

Bottom-line: you need that (-3) in cf.

So in the end, yes, I would go with LF-4e7 DH 3e12 CF- 2e9 (-3)
