OK, I figured it out. 90 is the halfway point if we only consider hitters. Adding in pitchers and stadiums brings us to 312 total picks. So 90/312 is 28.85% of the whole. Still, since 90 is the number of minutes on cassette tapes during the 70s, it was a pretty good measure of time when I was too stoned to read a clock. So, 90 remains of significant sentimental value, even if it isn't exactly half way in this draft.
