2010 Pre Card Draft Chat - Waiting on Misterg to load team

"The first "run" has officially begun, 4 of the last 5 picks 3rd base related, assuming the Votto pick moves Youkilis to 3rd base"

Add another to the list with Figgins. I was felling pretty good that I'd land Zimmerman,Longoria,or Sandoval with 6 picks to go to my turn and all of them on the board. Oh well Figgins makes for a great leadoff man vs righties but what do you do with him against lefties? He's a 1 so he still has some value but he can't play against lefties in a 200mil league I don't think.

Sidenote-to have to wait 24hrs ish for the whole thing to play out didn't help.

How so?

Figgins is THE leadoff man in the new card set vs. RHP. I'm going to guess 55+ OB with speed to burn. Mauer will also come in around 55 OB vs. the right side. They're both 1's. So Put Hill (also a 1) in the 3 hole to knock them in.....I think your draft is pretty much done drew. What else do you need? :)

"How so?"

I wasn't trying to convey that the delay hurt my chances. Just that it was painful to watch the 3b who I listed above come off the board in the manner they did.

I hope Hill's card is a little better vs righties than the Brandon Phillips cards we've seen the past couple years.

I've got a feeling I like my pitching more now than I will when I see the cards

[quote:b0f564332f="Jerlins"]Lesson learned....Never again participate in a league when the "clock is turned off on weekends" rule applies. Granted I have NO LIFE, but we are now heading into hour 18 without a pick. :( :( :([/quote:b0f564332f]

I hope your tounge is firmly planted in your cheek on this one, as NAKL runs this way as well and did last year.

Hill hit RH's as consistantly as he did LH's, he should be an E or 1L at worse. I like how you've begun Drew. C, 3rd, and 2nd arguably the 3 most difficult positions as far as position scarcity is concerned. All nice hitters, and 1 rated defense to boot. Speed, power, defense, what more can one ask for after 3 picks?

Mauer closer to 60 OB

and I think You'll find Hill a better 6 hole hitter, though maybe higher against LHP. YMMV :D

Nah, I thought NAKL went "fairly" smooth last year, with only a couple of hitches. Besides, a draft of 5 is a lot shorter than a draft of 28. I'm honestly getting real excited about seeing the cards. A couple disappointed me last year.

OK, I've no clue what YMMV is. I thought I knew all the computer lingo.

And I agree about Hill, he'll be better suited as a 6 hitter. It's a good feeling to have when 3 of the first 19 hitters are on my NAKL team. It's a bad feeling knowing you have none of the first 6 pitchers though.
