RJ,

Here's the big problem...

When you go to enter your team of 24 at 80M, the system will not let you.

It will tell you that you need 25 players, and that will then create the second problem...you'll be over the 80M and then the system won't let you for THAT reason.

This draft is much different from some of the others we have been involved with together on somdraft.com. We drafted EVERYBODY in those drafts. That means everybody had their 24 or 25 man rosters defined. To throw a dummy player in there and set the draft at 200M was no big deal.

This draft is different. Once we left the caveat out there of "autodrafting" the last three spots, which means we don't know who everybody will ultimately end up with, it changed the way we need to fill out our cards.

In your scenario, you could be using somebody as a filler that another team may have wanted...but it will put you over 80 million anyway to make the system work.

Once the autodraft is complete, you can drop and add to get to where you wanted to be, assuming those players are still available. So you can still make it happen, you just can't do it until AFTER the autodraft.

...I think...

We could set the max at 100M and just have everybody keep 20M in reserve at all times? This would allow teams to draft a team over 80M and then cut down.

The problem would be...You'd still COULD have some people drafting dummy players, while others are trying to draft those same players to fill out their team...

Either way, it's not a huge deal I guess.

RJ-
Not trying to be a hardass here, but your earlier (pre-draft) question was interpreted to mean post-draft card. And my answer stands - after we run the TSN draft we can alter the roster any way we like, within the normal requirements of the '69 game, as long as you always have 12 of your franchise players. In retrospect I guess I should have clarified that more fully, but I honestly didn't think this was your intent, as clearly you cannot draft legally without a 25 man 80M roster.

But the issue is what Bill has pointed out. You will not be able to draft without being under the $80M cap.

The rest of the 11 owners are holding ourselves subject to the same standard and if Bill, for example, had been in your shoes he might have wanted Dooley Womack as bad as you do, but he would not have drafted him (or would have drafted differently to enable picking him). And you had a plan, I understand, but it could not have revolved around all your current picks, as you drafted Sparky Lyle in error to begin with....

So I would say the fairest thing is to pause the draft for a minute, let you go back and change any one player for any other available player (one not selected or reserved so far) to meet the requirement, then resume the draft.

Other opinions are welcome, just my thoughts on the matter.

I appreciate the spirit of trying to make this work, Bill, but these are not the ground rules everyone has been playing by and I anticipate more complaints if we change that now.... :?

I have only done somdraft.com before no auto drafts

Postby Rjnewman » Wed Jan 27, 2010 1:15 pm

That is why I assumed the answer you gave me was in response to my draft. I could just post a crappy player that no one wants as my last pick and get a confirm that no one wants him and then drop him. Or I could indeed change a previous draft pick to someone not yet drafted to get the money necessary. Let me know. Though that will have destroyed my careful calculations as to whom I was planning to draft. Plan B may be painful....
