This was discussed early in the thread, but I want to be certain I understand correctly.

The minimum legal bid on a player is 10% of his price with $10K increments....therefore for a $7.05 mill player the minimum bid is .71

What about a $3.5 mill player...say one gets nominated and is passed on by the nominator. As I read it if no one bids on them, the nominator must take them at 500K...BUT can I bid .35 (10%) on that player? Can I nominate such a player with an opening bid of .35?

Like they say, no question is a dumb question!

You are bang on about the 10% rule. As far as a player under 5 mill. the minimum bid is still 500K. When nominating a player you can pass on that player, but if no one else makes a claim on said player then you will have to take him for the 500K.

Also, the divisions haven't been set yet, unless I missed that, which is also a possibility. :?

Thanks for adding in so quickly, The minimum floor for all bids, or even getting a player if everyone passes is .50 mil, no matter how low the player's salary.

And one clarification just so I am sure I have it right. If I propose a 9 mil player and pass on him and everyone else passes, I get him for .90, not .50, correct?

Yes litangel, that is correct. I just checked gorshars rules and it says that you get the player for 10% or 500K, whichever is greater.

I had said that I would pass on all open bids...however, ldanred had opened Miller Huggins at 0.9, and I will stand by his bid (although litangel is now recollecting bids on Huggins).

Regarding divisions....it looks as if we are selecting unique parks after the draft (in order of team total payroll if I read that right). As a proposal, perhaps we should plan to enter divisions on the same basis that we choose ballparks...

bottom 4 total payroll enter first,
middle 4 in the central,
top 4 payroll enter last

what do you all think?
