Mr Oct...stay or go?...update!

Postby JONCHUCKERY » Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:20 pm

OK community asking for help and all responses...here's the stat line for R Jackson playing in Yankee Std thru 96 games played...

Tm G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS
THE 94 346 50 78 23 1 18 48 49 88 9 4 .225 .324 .454 .778

Hard as it is to believe he is on his 1977 .925OPS card...So the question is as I find myself lingering 7 games out of 1st and not going anywhere...Should I cut Reggie and try and find a new spark? Or I should I hang with him and assume he will even out from a production standpoint given his card selection?

Thanks for all feedback!

As good as Reggie can be, and he probably will be hot, sometimes you just have to make a change. You can get two solid players for his salary. I am not sure who is out there to play RF, or what your other needs are, but it could be minus Reggie, plus change in hitting and pitching. 96 games is a good sample. but you can get those number and better from Ken Henderson or some other 4-5 million guy. Post a link to your team and you'll get more comments.

Don't do it!

If you have a good card for him, keep him! Especially true with a 20 percent salary hit you'll take at this point in the season.

The ONLY reason to look at results when deciding to keep a player is to try to figure out which card you have. If you know his card already, then the only thing that matters is the card.

If you feel you need a "spark" then put out a message that he is up for trade.

I'm with Coyote. Don't release Mr. October. Well, unless I happen to be in the same league as you. If that is the case, then trade him to me. :D

I would definitely keep him, he will heat up in the second half. Mean reversion is a wonderful thing.

While Reginald Martinez has done little to help...updated stat line...

380 55 87 26 1 20 53 54 96 11 4 7 .229 .327 .461

The team has rallied despite him...9 games ago I was 7 back in the division...I now sit just a game back. Team link

Still want feedback, but I will say given our recent TEAM success I'm more inclined to keep him simply believing he has at least one hot streak in him!

The Mouth

Howdy,

I tried The Mouth once; didn't have much success. OTOH, when he had the "Reggie" candy bar, legend had it that as soon as you opened the wrapper, it told you how good it was going to taste before you even took your first bite.
