1969 AUCTION LEAGUE - BIDDING ONLY

Our historical single season sets

Postby gorshar » Mon Feb 01, 2010 8:54 pm

In our 1999 auction, ldanred voluntarily dropped out. We continued bidding on the players up for bids but suspended all new nominations until we found the replacement.

I propose we ask ldanred either to resume active bidding or to drop out. If the latter we should suspend nominations until we find a replacement.

In the event we receive no response either way I propose we seek a replacement.

One option if worse comes to worse is that we could foot the 25 bucks (I would be glad. To spring for it) and Bernie could load the team in and the team could run on autopilot). While that division might have a slight advantage for the wild card but it is an option

[quote:fe8a39b257]Gorshar has he given reasons for being AWOL? [/quote:fe8a39b257]

Personal issues related to health, something about a girlfriend and foot surgery, and for the several weeks he was not loading his ATG4 team he said he was having account issues (no specifics offered) which I began to wonder if maybe the issues were not his Strat account but his credit card account....?

we could give him stottlemyre moose etc at salary value so he or replacement have a chance...this auction is awesome hate to have it corrupted after so much time.

If we have to get a replacement then the only way to make it "fair" all around is to either go back to his last bid or start over. The whole thing is corrupted otherwise (all our bids were made minus a participant which skews the results).

I'm not particulary fond of giving his team players gratis. That really skews the previous auction results, as would running the team as a Borg entry (we'd have to flush out the roster somehow).

Unless Idanred shows up it looks like we might be screwed.

Even though I know my team is gonna be the suckiest team in all of sucktown, I too have had fun in this auction (it's only my 2nd 1969 team and it shows). I've been in all of the other auctions with ldanred except for the ATG4 one. We've found replacements in the ATGV and 1999 auctions, but I fear it might be harder in this one and especially the 2008 one (where we are SOOO close to being done). Like gorshar, I have nothing against ldanred and understand how life can sometimes throw you curves, but if he is unable to participate fully in the auction now it will only hurt later on if we do need to find a replacement.
I think if we can find a replacement now we should go with it, and offer them the chance to purchase a couple of pitchers at face (or face * 10% or some kind of arrangement).

Flood 1.5

I like the idea of stopping new nominations until we have a plan.

If I or sneeze buy the spot I am thinking Gordie might take over.
