ATG 5 auction bidding

Postby hackra » Thu Feb 04, 2010 9:25 pm

As I read it, it looked like the tied owners could pass (or refuse to bid again). and if one bid, he (or she) would get the player, and if both passed, it would fall to the next lower bidder (which in this case would have been CATom at 0.51). BUT since miduar did rebid, Miduar should get him at 0.53.

If there is some contention about this, we should clear it up soon, as this will come up again.

Problem!

In the event of a tie, the owners who bid the tie (not all bidders) must each re-submit a bid within 24 hours higher than their previous bid. If no bid is re-submitted the player will be awarded to the next highest bidder. [/quote:d6c691ac40]

This from a rules clarification early on, implies that an owner can refuse to submit a bid (also called passing)[/quote:d6c691ac40]

The only other problem I forsee is if both parties pass then what???

By forcing players to re-submit bids ends the chance of stalemate!
I thought it was kind of fun to out strategize the other guy higher or lower if you decided against the player. I don't quite see why you should be able to pass when you won the player with the highest bid. Not a big deal just the way I see it.

I wrote the rule that both would lose and the player would go to the next highest bidder. Which in a way doesn't make a lot of sense, either.

So maybe we should amend the rule that you must resubmit a bid and continue to do so until the tie is broken.

I don't like the continual resubmitting, it will take more time, one thing I don't want, how about if both pass, the player goes to the owner with the most money left?

And since what I did was legal under the old rules, I think that we should go ahead and NOT change Henry.

This will become a problem when we all get down to only a nickel to bid.

I would suggest that we allow passing, award to the next highest bidder in the event of an all-pass, but if there are only 2 left, the player can go to the person who opened by proposing the player as a default assuming all bidders pass.

any other ideas :?:

I think we need to vote:

1.) Force continual resubmitting until a tie is broken.
2.) Follow the original rule, allowing passes. If one passes, the other gets the player for the *new* bid, if both pass, the player goes to the next highest bidder.

Put a 1 or a 2 next to your name.
