Strange substitution...What is HAL doing?

Postby tmatthews » Sat Feb 06, 2010 10:21 pm

I am looking for an explanation for a strange HAL substitution. As seen in the cut and paste below, Bob Bailor was used as a defensive replacement for Dale Murphy. No injuries. DH league. 1(-3)e6 replaced by a 3(0)e7. In game 6 of a championship series, no less. Personally, I would not have made the move, but HAL sure did. Why would HAL do such a thing?

Thanks!

Haven't seen something like that before. Please post a link to the entire game.

Actually I have seen this before, and I think it (or something like it) has happened to me. Makes me wonder whether the "1" on Murph's card for LF is a misprint. HAL apparently doesn't think he's a 1.

Are you sure you don't have Bailor listed as a defensive replacement in LF?

Well...I checked the defensive replacements. The problem is me! Just before the season ended, Murph was injured. So, I started Pedro Guerrero in LF. Bailor does play better defense than Pedro...so I set him up as a defensive replacement. It did not burn me in the playoffs. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. A valuable lesson learned...check your settings from time to time! Thanks!
