New to SOM online - which league should I join

Loving this forum - and a newbie but hooked!

So...........I've got JPav in my division, and honored by the challenge. I still have to study the recommendations on the board here, but please, just explain how to post a team? I've got a good friend suffering in this same league (it's early) and I'd love to see him get advice. The whole concept of a formula is great, especially when you've got a cap, yet a certain combination can do so much better, with all the variables considered. Having a lot of fun with this, and I'll just say I can still remember opening up my Christmas present in 1970 that was the SOM board game and going bonkers!

Step 1- Hit statistics at the top of the page to bring up team batting and team pitching
Step 2- Click on your team
Step 3- Copy and paste the internet heading (should have team id on it)

I happen to disagree that it's best avoiding the "vets". My first team ever had ETDefender and BigMahon in the same division, and Cristano in another. I ended up eliminated from a playoff spot on the last day. I had never played the board game, so I was truly a first time Noob. I didn't ask questions, but if I had, I am sure each would have responded kindly.

But I did get to see how they selected their team, how they ran it, etc etc., so it was a pretty good guide nonetheless. From there, I just read forum post after forum post, I clicked on links to other leagues to study the successful teams, and of course, wasn't hesitant to ask questions.

Though a bit outdated, Luckyman's Newbie thread is always a good start, as is J-Pav's Secret Formula thread, which this year includes a host of guest contributions.

I went back over 2 years in both this post and Strategy and could not find Luckymans thread. I did however find a post from Uncle Milte (remember him) titled Call me crazy... Please! Man that guy was all over the place.

From a member here (DeanTsc)...

I don't figure out the formula's. You can do that but I do visit the defensive charts at the end of his report. Very interesting to read through. You don't have to understand everything he's saying to see that.
