Reelin' in the Years League -- Draft started

Reelin' in the Years League -- Draft started

Postby tcochran » Thu Feb 11, 2010 6:30 pm

New to SOM this past year, I have enjoyed working with the 2008 data set.

I've never played any of the older seasons, but I wonder if that might be an interesting venue for a multi-year keeper league?

REELIN' IN THE YEARS LEAGUE

How about a keeper league starting with the 2001 data and then moving forward, one season at a time?

If we started soon and played 4 seasons per year, that would be:

1st year: 2001-2002-2003-2004
2nd year: 2005-2006-2007-2008
3rd year: 2009-2010-2011

Any interest out there?

This will be a 12-team league, with the following options (or whatever comes closest in the older seasons):
... $200M salary cap
... Roster moves unlimited (FA drops 10%)
... Yes to DH

When you sign up, be sure to indicate the state to be used for your lottery pick, prior to the initial draft.

If this were to fill in the next couple of weeks, I will not be able to participate. I have a family emergency and will not have internet access for the next couple of weeks at least.

how are we going to do the keepers I kinda like the idea of going year to year and being able to keep maybe 10-15 cards on you currant team?? BTW - there was no 200m in the early years, maybe only 80m for the first couple (don't remember).....Tom.

Thanks for the heads-up, Joe. Sorry to hear about the family emergency. If we do fill before the end of the month, I'll try to contact you, to see if you're able to participate then.

Let's say that if we go 48 hours without a response at that point, then we'll go ahead without you.

To CATom:

I was thinking we would keep the standard keeper roster of 25-30 players at the end of each season. It's certainly true that we want to level the playing field a bit, so that every manager has a valid chance to improve.

On the other hand, we should each be able to benefit from the brilliance of our selections, by keeping a solid core in place from year to year, too, right? :~)
