Regarding Tied Bids

Postby jet40 » Mon Feb 15, 2010 9:02 am

Not wanting to ruffle any feathers as I am new to this league, I will give my opinion for what it is worth.
If two or more Gm's remain tied on a player I think it is foolish to award him to a GM that did not covet him as much as the deadlocked GM's. If for instance, two people bid 1 milliion on a player and are unwilling to go any higher, then a simple tie breaker is the easiest and fairest solution. We could have 1 uninvolved manager PM a number between 1 and 20 to another uninvolved manager. The managers vying for the player could then PM a third party their guess, with the closest winning the player with their original high bid.

OK

I like litangel's number 2 above - the card should be awarded to the FIRST person to either 1) have submitted the last bid OR 2) the first person to have submitted the "pass" bid. Should IN NO WAY be awarded to the lowest bid taken (or the NEXT to highest).

[quote:fe415f5dbf="litangel"]Whatever your feelings around the rule about ties, it is our current rulw, so Murphy is up for bid.

Some Ideas for the future, because I think this two passes after a tie situation is likely to happen several more times.

Idea 1 - after two passes the player is awarded to the owner with the most players left to draft at the last bid price. If the two owners are tied, then the player goes to the owner with the most cash left to spend.

Idea 2 - after two passes the player is awarded to the owner who bid first in the last round where there were actual bids (not passes)

I personally do not like the force people tp keep bidding idea, it could be too time consuming[/quote:fe415f5dbf]

Either of these sound fine to me.
