Reelin' in the Years League -- Draft started

Postby padrenurgle1 » Thu Feb 18, 2010 11:57 am

Excellent. Please tell me if I understand:

1. So the "full" (30 or 40) man roster is a theoretical roster, tracked outside the game engine. If Team A has a 25 man active SOM roster, he may have the "rights" to 5 other players listed as free agents in the engine, and he may choose to "call them up" with a SOM transaction (including fee) but no other teams may pick those players up.

2. No team at any time during the season may make a free agent pick up of a player not on the theoretical roster.

3. If it's an $80m cap, does that only apply to the active roster? Or do we have to actually squeeze 30-40 player salaries under $80m?

4. No idea what the heck the state lottery business is about; I'll take Washington.

1. tcochran - AZ
2. joekendall - NY
3. JMP 1 - PA
4. CATom - CA
5. ironwill1 - CT
6.ggrover - tx
7. padrenurgle - WA

Hey, padre, you're right on target!

1. Roster rights: Yes, exactly

2. FA pickup: Also correct

3. $80M cap applies to the active roster only, for 2001-02-03 (23-25 players)

4. State lottery selection is to provide for a unique number by which to setup the initial draft order

Review the ballpark ratings

Since we will have an (optional) annual ballpark draft, it would good to know how the ballpark ratings change over the years.

Here are the links so that you can review the ballpark ratings:

I can't figure out where to find the 2001 season in order to purchase a team. I see 70s, 80s, 69, 84, 06, 07, 08, 09, ATGs...can't find 2001. Where's the link?

I was thinking about the stadiums...shouldn't we either be able to choose when to draft the stadium (mixed in with the players) or draft the stadium first? It seems odd to draft an entire team we're going to be managing for a decade without even knowing what kind of park they're going to play in. I really try to build a team with a stadium in mind.

What do you think? Could we do the stadium draft first? Or possibly allow people to choose their stadium in one of the 30 rounds of the basic draft, based on their own whim?

PS Palm your link is an empty shopping cart for TSN, i still can't find the 2001 purchasable season anywhere on the site.

Hi padre, I think the typical theory is that if you choose a stadium first and then can not draft the right players for it, then you're in big trouble.

On the other hand, if you first draft players for a particular style of stadium, then there's likely to be one available that's close to what you want (since we're only selecting 12 out of 30 of them).

Selecting a stadium in the middle of the draft would work if we were just using a discussion thread, I guess, but if we can use the automated draft site, then only players can be chosen there.
