live drafts

Postby DOUGGRAY » Sat Mar 18, 2006 2:03 pm

. I wasnt going to post at all but I people are creating live draft signups and waiting for the site...Im very very sorry! :(

I have not updated 2006 player prices into the draft site (all the rating disk players are there without prices) and Im undecide if I will do so. Im very sorry for this but Im trying to decide if the draft site will stay running at all. I apologize for this situation!

btw, life and family are great. This is simply a decision I made one week ago. This will be my only post about this. You can email me but Im off the boards for an indefinite time

Sounds like Penngray is no more. I sent him a PM and he replied back that he was not going to be involved with TSN or the forums any more. This is a shame. Can I just be the first to say thank you to Penn for all the help he has given on these boards. Hopefuly he will be back some time. His influence will be greatly missed. Is anyone else going to step up to the plate and fill the huge Penn shaped void?

I don't think we can underestimate Penn's contributions to the boards and to the game as well. His live draft software and the auction concept made the game so much better. I also don't think we can underestimate how much time he put into it. I hope he stays involved some way.

I too would like to thank Penngray for all his assistance. His efforts made live drafts possible in a timely fashion. His proxies actually kept most live drafts going !

I kept promising him a case of Molson Canadian everytime he helped me or leagues I have been involved with. Now I feel guilty for not paying off Penn on any of those well intentioned promises!!! ;)

Seriously, I hope he does return!

penn say it aint so...this would be a HUGE blow to the dozens of vets whose only way to truely realistically run a live draft is from your impeccable sight. one of my greatest accomplishments in strat was actually finishing ahead of you once,,,once, in about ten tries. hopefully you'll read enough of these and come back shane, shane come back!

I'm more or less done with live drafts if Penn's site isn't available...

What they said! My hope is that his competitive itch comes back soon. After all how many rounds of golf can 1 man play (well scratch that argument :) ). Seriously, I think TSN underestimates the value that Penn's site added to this game. I am certain we will see less theme leagues this season. As riggo said, doing a live draft the old way is not going to have much appeal. Less live drafts=less leagues= less revenue for TSN on strat. We have already seen a drop off of action on these boards, I really am concerned about future interest in this game. : :(

A DEAL 4 PENN

Postby FoggyOne » Mon Mar 20, 2006 9:28 am

TSN should license the site from Penn OR Penn should sell it to them so he doesn't have to support it. He could take a consulting fee too (during transition period).

Penn: I would happily review the license/ppurchase agreement for you (off the meter). . It is worth alot to TSN ..

The community here will miss Penn a lot.

TSN will miss the thousands of dollars he spends year!

Honeslty I understand Penn's point of view, and I've already spent all the money I'm spending on TSN for the rest of the year at the start of 06. After this, it's credits, or I'm done!

I can't give a definite time frame, but look for draft functionality on Diamond Dope in the near future.

Even though I understand the concept, I've never done an auction. So if someone wants to fill me in on how it works, I'd appreciate it.
