Cards are up!

Is it safe to assume the 1977 season will also be available on TSN? I hope so, it looks like an outstanding year!

Re: Payroll seems high?

[quote:cf1651f4ff="AeroDave10"][quote:cf1651f4ff="danlovaj"]Just a brief glance, but it seems payroll is very high...lots of >6million hitters...granted some of the cards may be culled in the OFFICIAL version...I bet $100 mil leagues will be even more popular...(I remember seeing somewhere there now is a salary cap that was somewhere between 100 and 200??? 150 million perhaps?)[/quote:cf1651f4ff]

The new payroll option is $140M. I don't see it being that popular because you don't have the depth like in ATG.[/quote:cf1651f4ff]

This option is completely pointless in 200x games. It's difficult to reach even 120M in a 200M league. As AeroDave said, it's for ATG.

It's not that the cards are THAT good. The cards are worth what they're worth. The question is one of drawing some lines somewhere of realistic integrity. Obviously realism is lost in many ways with super relievers, star* starting pitchers, and other items; but I think there are still some steps TSN tries to take to maintain some semblance of reality. I agree with this philosophy and I don't mind at all if a guy with 60 PAs and an 8M card is left out. He shouldn't be able to have 8M dollars of influence on a league with so little real playing time.

I agree with you in principle. Ideally they would make it an additional league option. You could pick between, TSN Card Set or Full Card Set. If I was playing in a standard $80M league, I would pick the TSN Card Set. For my keeper league I would want the Full Card Set.

See, and I think you can't have it both ways. If you are going to allow 200+ inning rp's, starters pitching on 3 days rest throwing over 300+ innings, guys hitting 70 HR's because they're in Coors field, what difference does it make who's name is attached to an outstanding card??? Which is what it comes down too, the name. "Oh so and so couldn't do that over a full season..." So what, nor should Kuo be able to rack up 200+ innings, but he does.

To me it's a totally arbitrary destinction, because someone in the decision making process gets their nose out of joint if an unknown player sits atop league leadboards when testing seasons prior to launch.

[quote:6489bf3134="drew6013"]Some of the prices are changing. One example I noticed was Figgins. Yesterday Figgins was 7.24mil, he's 6.76mil today. Interesting....[/quote:6489bf3134]

Pitchers prices have now been adjusted also. Adams went from 6.53 >>> 7.10.

I'm just looking for a little consistancy on a year to year basis myself. One year, Wes Helms is one of the most expensive cards in the set, the next year J. Ellsbury and D. Murphy are left out. But I agree with Niners, The PTB need to stop looking at the names and just put the cards in and price accordingly. I wouldn't care if J. Lugo is priced higher than A. Pujols if he has the better card. Unless I'm selecting players for a keeper league, I'm not looking at the name at the top of the card anyway.

How about adding a plate or innings pitched cap?

If a super reliever pitched 100 innings in real life cap him at 125% usage, hence 125 innings.

that would also control the pricing and assist with realism ( i know this is a a fantasy game)

PS Waiting for the new cards is worse than waiting for Santa...any announcements on when the new set will come? i'm tired of not being naughty

you mean like this system they have used the last 3 or 4 years (ever since the Carlos Baerga debate)

here is the standard:

Over $5M in salary, under 150 PAs = excluded
Over $2.5M in salary, under 100 PAs = excluded

The last 2 seasons this standard has been followed closely. The only exception is Raburn in the 2007 season - 146 PA's - $5.34. Close to 150 PA's. Not far over 5.0.

2006 season exceptions:

Escobar - 95 - 4.31 - injury 6 though
Ianetta - 90 - 2.68 - catchers get a break
Logan - 96 - 2.57 - barely over 2.5; close to 100 PA's

but then:

Linden - 86 - 4.00
Loney - 110 - 6.90
Delmon Young - 127 - 5.89

These guys would be excluded if Bernie allows no exceptions to the above PA/salary guidelines.
We'll find out real soon who makes the cut.

Randy Ruiz - 125 - 8.51
Alex Avila - 71 - 7.55
Rusty Ryal - 65 - 6.97
David Ross - 149 - 6.31 (catcher; inj 3; 1 PA from 150)
Justin Maxwell - 101 - 5.62
Mike Carp - 62 - 5.54
Sam Fuld - 114 - 5.5
Paul Phillips - 52 - 4.51 (catcher)
Carlos Delgado - 106 - 4.38 (inj 6)
Jesus Flores - 104 - 4.33 (catcher; inj 6)
Michael Aubrey - 95 - 4.22 (good D; L-8R though)
Eric Patterson - 108 - 3.71
Jeff Larish - 89 - 3.52
Ian Desmond - 87 - 3.16 (bad D)
Chad Moeller - 96 - 3.11 (catcher; L-8R)
Josh Thole - 57 - 2.96 (catcher ; L-6R)
Brad Ausmus - 100 - 2.86 (catcher; gotta include his last card)
Mike Morse - 55 - 2.83
Reid Brignac - 93 - 2.55
