ATG 5 auction bidding

Postby Mr Baseball World » Tue Mar 02, 2010 10:10 am

Before I close out my roster I have a question:

Am I correct that we cannot switch from one version of a card to another during the season? I am thinking we can pick whichever card to use but once the season starts, our choice is locked. Is that correct?

The original rules were written:
[quote:a2c77de5fd]
For players with multiple cards, the bidding will be on the highest value card, though owners may choose to use a different card during the season.

Once the auction is finished there is no trading or free agent drops/picks. What you draft is what you get. The only exception is players with multiple cards may be exchanged for different years if for some reason a manager wants to use a lowered-valued or card. But remember, during the auction, the highest value will be used in determining your total allowed roster (from the $200 mill limit). [/quote:a2c77de5fd]

My intent was that you could exchange during the season but in re-reading this it is in fact rather vaguely written.

Might I ask others what their interpretation of the rule was?

At this point I don't want to force a rule one way if the majority interpreted it another way. And sorry for the vagueness.

My recollection was very vague and probably not accurate. I am ok either way, just want to know as it will impact whether I spend the rest of my 200 mill or save some.

My understanding is that you clearly can switch between different versions of a multiply carded player during the season.

I agree with litangel. I understood it to mean you could switch between cards only for the player you own. I can't drop say Campy and pick up a different C. I could drop Campy 1953 version and pick up the cheaper 1950 version.

it seems clear that you CAN switch between years on a player you own as long as you stay under the $200 million cap. (but you better check your math closely, as you might drop a pricey hitter and find you don't have the cash to retrieve his other year  :? leaving you a player short!)

the drop penalty (I believe) was never adressed. (any would be fine with me) - gorshar should chime in on this.

8-)

Some managers may be counting on switching players ( I don't think I'm one), so I think it would be fairer to have the least restrictive drop penalty, either 10 or 5/10/20.
