FATY III - It's almost time.

Postby pwootten » Wed Mar 03, 2010 7:57 pm

The 2009 cards are about to come out, so it's almost time for FATY III. For those of you who may not know, FATY stands for "Franchises Across the Years". It's a little tourney that started a couple years ago and has pretty much been dominated by 2-time Champion Fred Aaron.

The rules are pretty simple:

Each manager will pick 2 franchises from those that have operated since 1969. This excludes Toronto, Seattle, Florida, Colorado, Tampa Bay, and Arizona. That leaves 24 franchises (combine Senators/Rangers and Pilots/Brewers).

Once franchises are drafted, you will keep both franchises through 5 different leagues, all played at the same time. Those leagues will be: 1969, the 70's, the 80's, 1999, and 2009. Five decades of baseball!

A point system will be in place that works as follows:

1 point for each victory +
5 points for making the playoffs +
5 points for making the WS +
5 points for winning the WS.

The manager with the most overall points at the end of the five leagues is the WINNER. If you care to donate a prize to the winner, please let me know. This is not required, but sure makes things fun.

Here is the fine print:
- $100 M Leagues, 5/10/20 waivers
- Serpentine draft of teams based on randomizer.
- DH in all leagues EXCEPT 1969
- Player eligiblity for 70's and 80's goes to the team for which the player had the most seasons on their card. In case of ties, AB/BB or IP will break the tie. If that manager does not take the player they are eligible for any team that appears on their card.
- 25-man rosters at all times.
- Stadium must be picked from one of your two teams.
- Trades are limited to no more than 2 per team and can involve no more than 4 players on a roster. In other words, no more than 4 players on a roster could be from teams other than your two picks.

Before we take any new managers we'll give first dibs to those who participated in FATY II. Please confirm that you will return.

Hi Paul, you run great leagues so it pains me to say that I'm going to pass on this one. I have waaaayyy too many leagues and commitments going on. Plus, my workload at work will be crazy the next several weeks. Hopefully you can find a replacement.
(No, I'm not afraid of Fred and his menacing teams!)

You should have played hard-to-get. I had appearance money lined up if needed. Glad you chose to return on the cheap.

Paul, I had to join after seeing Kev and LMB chicken out...er...I mean bow out b/c of (AHEM) prior commitments (chickens..cluck..cluck..cluck...).

Of course, with me back in, looking for a Three-Peat (hold your horses, Pat Riley, the check is in the mail, so no need to call your lawyers), I guess there will be a lot of others chickening out...er...I mean bowing out b/c of (cough, cough) "prior commitments."

They finished 9th and 12th in FATY II. Field-fillers at best. :P
