So why did Maxwell and Fuld get cards, but Avila and J Flores did not?

player who played very few ab's and had numbers well above their career arc are never included.

Because some guy who is a career .250 hitter has 40 ab's and hits .340 he should be in? Nope never has been that way. (exaggerated but the gist of it).

That does not answer the question. Fuld and Maxwell were way over what can be expected of them, as was Avila, but for Flores, he may well be close to that good. I'd love to hear Bernie's input on this.

Fuld's inclusion is silly. he becomes one of the best lead off guys in the set.

A case can be made for carding Flores. Not because of potential (this is a numbers game) but compare him to Delgado who got a card.

Flores - 4.33M - PA's 104 - Inj. 6 - OPS .876

Delgado - 4.38 - PA's 106 - Inj. 6 - OPS .914

Well, Delgado has a history and Flores hit .200 over his OPS for the previous 2 years. But look at Mauer from his [b:156a25d617]rookie[/b:156a25d617] season in 2004.

5.13M - PA's 118 - Inj. 6 - OPS .939

Maybe he was included because of his potential. :?

Yep Flores being out is a head scratcher, especially given his injury rating of 6.

Cheer up though, looks like we may get him after all, and Avila and Ruiz...

Posted in bernie's thread announcing the launch:

[quote:f523758a91="bernieh"]I've heard the (usual) opinions from people who would prefer that we leave the "fluke" cards like Randy Ruiz in the set. While we still need to remove them from the standard set, I'm considering offering an additional, alternate set that will include them, for the first time. Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks! HAVE FUN!

I asked in the same thread when we could expect to see this [i:f523758a91]other [/i:f523758a91]2009 set, and he posted that he's working on it for this week :D

It might be interesting to include an option to limit overusage . . . lol that would REALLY screw with salaries though.
