NEW STRAT KEEPER LEAGUE

Postby bvargus » Fri Mar 05, 2010 5:59 pm

As for the release of the cards, and the draft, I have sent an email to everyone. It has the rosters attached, and suggests the dates of Friday, March 12 for cuts due and Saturday, March 20th, for the beginning of the draft. But I also see that in his league, thisisray has cuts due the 12th and the draft starting three days later on the 15th. Would that be a viable option for everyone?

[quote:186a1684b0]I not only agree with WP on this, but I'm really not sure what litangel is contending. Rosters are capped at 30 prior to the draft. Do you want to promote prospects during the draft in lieu of making picks? In which case, which picks do you bypass in order to make the two promotions--1st and 2nd or 9th and 10th?[/quote:186a1684b0]

9th and 10th.

I am ready to just give up on this, but I think my greatest desire is to have the rules clearly written. If what is true is, "The only time you can promote your prospects, is as you make your drops before the free agent draft or if you make a trade that leaves you with an open roster spot," then just say that.

The following players who I am likely to drop, are available for very little.

Hafner
Gardner
Braden
Seay
Scott
Punto
S Hairston
Sheffield
Litsch
Cormier
are available for a 9th round draft pick, or along with a trade of my 3rd round supplemental for your second round supplemental pick.

Fukudome
is available for a 6th round pick or along with my 3rd round prospect pick for your 2nd round prospect pick.

Feldman, Jackson, S Drew or M Reynolds who I am not planning on droppping could be available in the right deal.

Litangel,

I'm sorry if this is frustrating for you. These rules are mostly copied from another league, and there are bound to be loopholes and gray areas which will need to be dealt with, particularly with the prospects.

Consider this: As of right now, the prospects we drafted in May or June of last year will need to be promoted at a time where we're likely to be mid season, which means we'll either need frantic unbalanced trades or to promote them in the FA draft next year.

What I propose we do about prospects is this:

Promotions are only allowed after the cuts for either the annual or the supplemental FA drafts, before the draft starts. You still need to have 10 open slots at the start of the annual draft.

For the supplemental one, you are allowed as many cuts as you want for promotions, but are still limited to 3 picks in the draft. (i.e. you can cut 7 players, promote 4 and have 3 picks).

As of right now, two years from when you draft each prospect, you must decide to promote them or cut them. I think we should tie each prospect draft to the nearest FA draft, and have the cuts/promotions due two years from that draft. Thus, the prospects we drafted in May or June of last year will need to be promoted by next year's annual FA draft or be released.

I would like to hear what people think about these ideas. I think they're easier to understand than the system we have currently.

As for your specific case, Litangel, you probably can find a comparable replacement for Wieters in 09 with one of your last picks as he's about 25th in value for catchers, plus you have VMart who has 600 AB. Wells is another story, but perhaps you can work out a trade before the draft, as it's only one player that you're over. I'll send you an email in the next day or two to discuss some of the players you mentioned.

Thnaks for the concern WP, I actually figured a way around this, I am going to drop Hairston, who I was planning on keeping, and keep Wieters as a prospect, as you suggested, that gets me to 30, even with Wells.
I like your ideas, they seem fair and clear.

litangel trades Billy Gardner to Thisisray for a 9th round draft choice,

and trades Fukudome to Pennyville for a 6th round choice

I now have the draft choices I need for 2010, and anyone else who wants to trade for someone on my list, I will do it for your 3rd round supplemental pick or for a 6th round pick in 2011, or for upgrading my 9th round pick to a 7th round this year.

I confirm

Just one Question
I already announced my drops which numbered 12 and announced two promotions from the minors for a roster of 30. With this trade that puts me at 31. I was just wondering if we can wait until the 6th round to officially make the trade or am I going to have to make another cut to bring me to 30 once again. thanks Kevin

Is that Brett Gardner in the Litangel/Thisisray trade?

Pennyville,

You have to have 25-30 players to start the draft, so yes, you must either make a deal or cut someone else to get down to 30 by next Friday.

Yes, Brett Gardner,

and Pennyville I need the trade to happen before the drops, that is what makes it worth it to me.
