MVP 1969 Series overall

My vote for the MVP in the 1969 season all time would be Frank Howard. He is usually one of the top HR hitters in every league and one of the most sought after

Howard is the easily the best hitter at left field in the 69 set. He isn't the mvp. Luckily, the mvp of the 69 is the actual 1969 MVP - McCovey. Factoring in fielding, base-stealing and running, Howard is about 10th on my list. Reggie, Frank, and Petrocelli (by far his career year) are clearly better. I also prefer Bobby Bonds, Wynn, Killebrew, and Clemente (when he isn't injured).

I went through twenty-five 1969 leagues and recorded how many wins a players' team had. Figuring the Most Valuable Player is the one that wins the most games. These are my results:

All of these players played in all 25 leagues. The guys in the middle are not much of a surprise, the guys on the top and the guys on the bottom caught me by surprise.

Interesting compilation of stats from the 25 leagues. I would sure be curious to see how some of the 1969 part time players who are commonly used in full time roles (you know, the Woodie Helds and the Tom Egans), as well as pitchers fared.

It took me a couple of hours to figure out the information on the hitters, I don't have the time right now to do the pitchers. But what I did observe is that 10 million dollar hitters seem to be more consistent than 10 million dollar pitchers. You can count on getting good production from guys like McCovey, Robinson, Jackson, Powell etc. But you don't get the same consistentcy with the 10 million dollar pitchers. They are more of a hit or miss.
