The talk about prospects is still not clear to me. I thought that "prospects" had to be "uncarded." Is that not right?

Prospects must be uncarded when we pick them, but we can keep them as prospects even if they get a card, if we choose, as long as they have not exhausted their two years. We can also promote them to our roster once they are carded, the "prospect rules" are about specifically when we can do that.

PS, I understand that tomorrow is the deadline for us to do out drops.

Just a quick clarification on the prospects and card situation, Litangel is correct. Think of it this way:

We only care about whether or not someone has a card for their eligibility in a draft. If they have a card for the current season, they are eligible in the FA drafts. If they do not, they are eligible in the prospect draft as long as they are the property of an MLB team.

Once someone is on your 40 man roster, they may remain so for as long as you deem it necessary, regardless of whether or not they have a card. Even if they retire, or miss an entire season (like Duscherer on my team) they may remain on your team in case of a comeback.

If someone is selected in the prospect draft, they don't count against your 40 man roster limit, but can only remain as a prospect for 2 years. You do not have to promote them if they have a card, but you can prior to one of the two FA drafts. Also, if at the end of 2 years, they don't have a card, you may still promote them, but they will take up a space on your 40 man roster from now on.

The prospects we chose when we started the league will need to be cut or promoted for the spring FA draft next year.
