I think that allowing a choice on the DH would allow for an additional element of unpredictability and strategy in deciding whether to keep weak defensive players. I recognize that it wasn't in the rules that were originally proposed, but it might be a worthwhile tweak. I'm just throwing it out there-- what if the runner-up made the choice for the next season? (I'm out of the playoffs, so obviously I won't directly benefit from whatever rule we select for next season).
