Bando "yes", Tenace "no"

Howdy,

The Senators: I agree with you half the way concerning Bando and Tenace the Menace. I've employed Sal some 4 times and he pretty much does what his card says, even in Houston.
As for Tenace the Menace, sheesh! No thanks! People steal on him, he gets injured and doesn't produce RBIs. For [i:9fb04368c1]that[/i:9fb04368c1] kind of money, I expect some RBIs. As usual, I've seen Gino tear the cover off the ball for others,LOL.
I've also about "had it" with Cedeno. I get his worst card every time, and that's thrice I've been fooled. Never again; I feel like Charlie Brown coming to kick the football while Lucy holds it, with respect to Cedeno.

[quote:4d0a571b3c="YountFan"][quote:4d0a571b3c="Barbie Girl"]Bill Russell at $3.19 million.

Never used him and, apparently, no one else has either.

[/quote:4d0a571b3c]

Russell needs to cost .84m[/quote:4d0a571b3c]

I think Hal needs to stick Russell on one team in each league and make it impossible to drop him. And he has to platoon with Sonny Jackson.

In the very first 70s league I participated in, I had Reggie on my original draft list and ended up getting Dave Winfield in the draft instead. That was a very fortunate thing for me, because Winfield for my team in Dodger Stadium was a more productive player than Reggie in Tiger Stadium. Given Reggie's stats in this league (0.289 OBP, 0.478 SLUG), I thought for sure it was his 1970 season. The end of the season revealed that it was his 1975 season.

Jackson's 1970 season is not worth his salary, and because his 1975 season is so heavily tilted towards right handed pitching, I don't think that season is all too great, either. If the other managers in my league were strategizing like I was, they were scheduling their left handed pitchers whenever they played Reggie's team.

In summary, I feel that two of Reggie's seasons make his salary very overinflated.

[quote:5976e6d963="pwootten"]Anyone had luck with Andre Thornton?[/quote:5976e6d963]

First time I ever used Thornton in the 70s (that I could remember) currently on my round 3 players championship team.
He's currently doing quite well, though it's not saying much for the team as a whole.
.301 avg .973 ops through 166ABs

In case anyone gets curious about his progress down the line:

BTW: George Brett (another player I never used before) is an absolute monster, and I'm not even talking about his 1980 season!

I've only played 8 seasons of the 70's. Currently playing in the tourney.

I've used Reuss 3 times with success. I'm kinda partial to the reverse LH's and the '73 / '82 cards are really good.

He was a late season pickup on my championship team. Went 12-7 with his '75 card. 3.24 ERA, 1.19 WHIP at Metropolitan.

Frank White

Postby Larryrickenbacker » Sun Apr 11, 2010 9:57 pm

Howdy,

Frank White has two good cards and a third that is so-so. The other two stink! As much as I'm tempted to acquire him (To go with Metzger), I keep coming back to this: If Belanger is too much money in the high $3 mil range, why even consider F. White at 2b for even more money?
2b doesn't get as many balls hit his way, so common sense tells me to skip White. Anyone had success with F. White?

I've used Belanger a number of times, but I have never used Frank White.
