12 x 12 Regional Theme League

While we wait for muttdoc to post the final rule decisions, I'm wondering how the timing of this will work out. From what I take, we have to put the players we want on our autodraft card, load all the teams, and have the draft. Then, either on this ILC thread or in the league's e-mail, we will have to declare our starting lineups. Next, one of the other managers will need to tell us which scrub we will have to start, and then we will have to re-arrange our rosters with the (presumably) freed up money.

Can we all do that in a week (or less)? I'm not so sure, based on how slow some guys move, and how unavailable guys can be.

Is there some way to simplify this process to make sure we can all start on time?

I think mutt may be out this weekend, not sure... I know someone is!!

Anyway, he cleared up this stuff in the league mail, but will wait for him to re-post it here. Think it's 125m (must have a min of 123 on your draft-card, any moves you want can be made after the screw-job.

I think we need this league to fill on a Saturday so we have 9 days to sort everything out.

On call for the hospital and a bit worn. The cap was reduced to 125 million. The rules were simplified. The teams are drafted and each team must have a minimum total salary of 123 million. This is to prevent somebody from just hiding all of his good players until after the Screw substitution. After the Screw substitution, teams may make unlimited roster changes to try to make the best of what I hope is a diabolically bad situation. The Screw substitute must be a position player. He must be played at his primary position....the first listed on his card. Whomever is the DH may not be deleted. He [they] must play DH the entire season, barring injury. Pitchers are not eligible to be deleted. The Screw player must be listed as the starter for every game, barring injury. You MAY indicate in the managerial preferences that he is eligible to be removed for pinch hitter, pinch runner, and fielding replacement. There is no maximium or minimum salary for the screw player, who is chosen from the team's card set by the opposing GM listed numerically immediately before yours in the master list of teams for this season; for example, I am going to be selecting a player for Novie's team. At the end of the season we will vote on the Most Valuable Screw Player and the Most Invaluable Screw Player; the former is the one with the best stats, the latter is the player that contributed the most to hurting his team. I will be determining and providing appropriate awards for these players at a later date. CW

Thanks for posting ...

I'm just thinking out loud here, but I don't see how you can really "hide" too many, if any players. If I want to hide a player that only qualifies at one position, say 2B, and I don't put him on the roster, the manager screwing me could still put some scrub whose primary position is 2B, thus disabling me from using any other 2B. For example, I really want Joe Morgan so I don't want my screwing manager to delete him. I pencil in Bill Mazeroski as my 2B. My screw player is selected, and it's $.50 2B Duane Kuiper. I can't use Joe Morgan at 2B because Kuiper has to play there, but I can't DH Morgan either, because I declared someone else (e.g. Kiner) to be my DH.

Does anyone else see what I'm talking about?

I have to say that I for one am finding this to be very simple. I have already filled out my draft card and have already positioned 3 potential "screw players" for the Pre War MidWest team that I am to shaft.

why dont we just name our starters now on the ILC, and thereby take care of the screwing PRE-draft??

That's what I was thinking. That will save a lot of confusion and won't cost any time once our teams are loaded.

Oh, and Andy, I have no intention of ever picking Joe Morgan for any team ever again. He ALWAYS seems to disappoint ...

Hmm. I'm thinking I am the one to 'screw' the Pre-war Midwest team following muttdoc's logic if he is screwing Novie then I must be screwing him (in the league play - you filthy people!)
