I am really surprised that Bob Watson is getting so little respect. He had excellent stats every season. It is not only the HR hitters in the real HOF. There is room for the George Brett types (good BA, moderate HR and nice doubles numbers) as well which is exactly the type of hitting numbers Watson had.

I do not vote for Watson because even though he had a couple of great seasons for me, he was cut a couple of times as well and he did not dominate for 5 years. He was very, very, very good, but not McCovey or Stargell dominant.

I like that Munson got more support. If you look at C performance for that decade, in my opinion he was the best C for the whole decade. I wish Bowa got more respect for his D...

jsam, When you use Stargell and McCovey as examples it is getting back to my point about are we only voting in HR hitters and not the consistent .335 hitters?

If you take Watson's career stats from our league below are his stats for every 600AB (an estimated full season). Remember this is just the average for his entire career.

Looks like I'll have to "influence" one more vote to get Dusty and Seaver in the hall next year! The only question is do I bribe or blackmail to get that vote?

I'm a bit surprised Bobby Bonds and his .908 OPS at CF, with speed, haven't made it in. I guess he had 2 terrible years out of 6, but man, his 4 good years were incredible.
