Gary Carter-worst year ???

With the lack of depth of catching talent in the 80s - what do you do when you find out you have Carter's worst year in the first series ???? Gedman and Scioscia are available and I have Wockenfuss for the lefties.........

Depends on your ballpark and your other needs and whether you are in the 95% or 90% or 80% drop period.

If you have a homer park you can keep '86 Carter and he can be serviceable. If you are in someplace like KC or Oakland or St. Louis then this is a mandatory drop.

Also if you are in the 95% or 90% drop period then you might want to take some risks and try to find a good year from a cheaper player, and use the extra money you save on Carter somewhere else. If you are in the 80% drop period then it is a tougher call.

I rarely spend more than .75 on catchers. There are alot of combinations of cheap catchers to fill the void.

It can be hard to replace Carter's RBIs even in his 'off' year, but it is a lot of money that can be spent else where. The old thinking cap is what makes the mystery games fun

I wouldn't hesitate to drop Carter's worst card in any circumstance. The money you save can almost certainly be used to upgrade another position.
