Wade Boggs.....love him or hate him?

Postby echo22 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 3:12 pm

I'm using Wade Boggs for the first time in the 70's/80's tourney. I've played about 20 seasons so it's pretty odd that I've never had him before but he was a substitute pick for a missed Brett selection during the autodraft. Now I've seen Boggs rock on other teams but gosh has he been underwhelming as a Diva. I have his 83 or 85 card meaning he should be hitting around .360 with an OBP around .445. He's been hovering around .290-.300 all season (just past the midway point). I can't trade this guy. I tried. And you don't cut a guy on a .360+ BA card. I mean I've had better seasons from the likes of Bruce Bochte and even Miguel Dilone! I don't think I'll ever use Wade again.

So are you a fan or not?

he is very good if none of your opponents in the playoffs will be starting left handed pitchers

2 years that he can only get hurt for remainder of game, 2 years 3 game injury limit, 4 years .400 OB%. Pitchers park stud. There is a reason he never starts the season in the FA pool....

Yet, why is he so often not picked? I can't tell you the number of times he's been my consolation prize for missing out on Brett or Schmidt.

Boggs is currently hitting .291 with a .379 OBP and .755 OPS on his .360+ BA/.448OBP/.930+OPS card. He's not even close to his expected performance.
