Frank Thomas

A while ago (on the old boards) I asked for advise on whether or not it was worth picking up Frank Thomas. Was he injured too much to make him worth the $? Here is the old board thread:

Thanks for the advise guys. He was well worth the money in my opinion. He averaged a homer just about 1 out of every 10 ABs, was on base 47% of the time and had well over 400 PAs. The rest of my team was a train wreck, but it wasn't because of him.

Here is the link to that team:

Your mileage may very........

Nice season for The Big Hurt.

Your 4 at 2b is what killed this team. You simply cannot win with a 4 at either middle infield spot.

You also wasted some coin on insignificant or redundent bench players and pitchers. I see where you could have had an extra 2 million that would have better served you in a position player/bullpen spot upgrade.

You are right Splinter. That 4 at 2B absolutely killed me. Soriano ended up to be a huge mistake. All my teams in the past have had great defense up the middle. I'll never do that again unless I'm part of a "Dr. Strangeglove" theme league or something (remember Dick Stuart? -- uh oh, do I hear another theme league coming?...).

This was my first '05 league and I really went to school on this one. I ended up in second place only because I stunk just slightly less than 3 & 4.
